Not knowing too much about the date codes, can you inlighten me on it? I am assuming it has to do with manufacture date and age of the tire. What should I look out for. This is the same tire I have on my K9. Thanx for the help.

So you will have a four digit number which represents the week and year it was made

This tire was made the 43rd week of 2016, these numbers are known as the Dot number

Cool. So how old is too old to buy? What is the recommendation?

the newer the better, obviously, but for the low mileage I ride each year, I would not buy one more than 2 years old. that would give me roughly 4 years to wear it out. if you ride a lot, you would probably be alright with 3 years old. but in any case, keep a close watch for cracking on the sidewalls and in the tread grooves.
