Although I had to miss this event which pained me to no end, I decided that given the extraordinary effort to revive the 2006 Mastiff belonging to MastiffDave that something needed to be done.

This is my small way of thanking these two incrediable gentlemen that have both helped me as well in the past.

I mailed these out today.

Now that the cat's out of the bag per se, here is the other piece that was made regarding this recovery.

Haha thanks Mike! It was a pleasure to do it! I enjoyed doing it very much. Can't have someone down on a bike for that long!

Was a good test of "how long should this take?". Knothead did most of the work and had it all prepped and ready for the heart transplant upon arrival. That was the only reason we were able to get it done the evening I arrived. To be fair, it's also my fault it was a late evening as I wasn't able to get out earlier. I at least had the motor pretty well polished so it didn't take much to wipe it down after install.

I did pull the old motor apart a little and as we had a few folks look at it there, it wasn't the rings, it wasn't something that came down from the top of the motor, as there was no marks on the top of the piston, the rings are not broken. It looked to me like there was a failure in the bottom end, I also asked Josh who has built 100's of motors and he agreed it came from the bottom. I found some shavings fishing a magnet into the bottom end!

BTW how did you get Dave's VIN#? Haha

Appreciate everyone being there and this was all pre-negotiated Dave, Knothead and I had this adventure mapped out for over a month before. Although Dave kept telling us to leave it alone! It wasn't great to do work at any event it was very well planned.

Oh and side note ....whoever was around heard me cuss a few times because of one major tool I use and Knothead had one but has seen better days so I refused to use it. He has a package coming in the mail that will fix that problem!

The VIN just required a little help. I called BakieBake the other night to get Buffy's number and let her in on the plan and had her sneak out to the toy hauler while Dave was in the shower to get me the VIN.

It just hit me the other day that I had ordered Dog Tags for the laser a little while ago and I thought it was the perfect thing for the Mastiff's rebirth.

Yeah, I knew there was a lot of planning ahead on this but its still two of you taking your time away from your vacation to do this work, especially when you were short on time and couldn't even ride out and had to use the cage!

that's ok, I was talking to Knot the other day about doing my transmission and the torque adapter that makes it easier.
He had me send the link to it, he clicks on the link for it to remind him that he bought on in 2020 -- he forgot about then realized where he put it in the tool box!

Thats a very nice surprise Mike and now Thanks to you three guys ,I am permanently the owner of the resurrected mastiff. No way could we ever part after all the hard work and planning that went into this. It’s actually a new bike as Knott had to redo front to back and that was all before the motor fiasco. Many thanks to you guys.

Couldnt have done it without you.....it was a team effort....i believe you and I would give some of the best in the business a hell of a time doing a complete bike build off
