Thanks, man. Really ... no distress whatsoever. We got biker friends in Flag. It’s ironic - the only electrical part we did not replace in January was the stator.Really glad you made it home. I was thinking about hooking the trailer back up and coming to get you, but did not think you could wait 2 days for me to get there. It does suck when they brake down, but at least you were close to home. Great time meeting you two, and hope to meet up again sometime.
That sucks didn't even know AZ was having wild fires I don't watch the news or turn on the TV so that would do it. Camp Verde is where we stayed last year for a couple nights at we played around Arizona and Grand Canyon, Sedona and Jerome!Well, finally had a hiccup. I lost my stator somewhere around Tuba City in the middle of some of the most desolate area of NE AZ. I did not know it except for a couple tell tale signs. Only 78 miles from Flagstaff so we pushed through to Cameron on the 89 road to Flagstaff and stopped for fuel. Not enough juice to start the bike. Since it is firing on a dime we push started it in 2nd without any trouble and high tailed it toward Flagstaff (only 42 miles away). She went black 15 miles shy of Flag and I coasted to a stop on a three foot shoulder. Once again, AAA to the rescue! Got a tow to Rick’s Custom Cycles in Flag and we tested for charge output - yep bad stator. We popped in a new battery so we could get to a hotel around the cornerAs it turns out, the entire region between Flag and Phoenix (I-17, 89 to Prescott, Camp Verde to Strawberry) is all closed down due to wild fire. We would have been stranded one way or the other. Better in Flag than Camp Verde along with every other stranded vehicle. Our good friend in Flag, Jesse is headed to Tucson tomorrow so we will haul the bike the rest of the way to Phoenix and I can replace the stator. Approx 3500 miles of heaven for the past seven days. No complaints here. Grabbed a room at the first hotel with a pool visible from the road.
We ate the last half of of our bfast burritos fro Durango while we waited in the desert for the tow truck.![]()
