I've been having a little scare as of the last day and a half. I'll be driving down the road under normal riding conditions and the bike just stalls and then backfires as if it just ran out of gas. It will start back up with no problems but after a few hundred feet, it will just shut off again. The bike is carbureted and had the Vance & Hines 2 into 2 pipes put on at the 500 mile service check. The bike now has 920 miles. I did (very carefully) rinse off the bike yesterday. I hope I did not accidently get water in something. Any suggestions ?

I wish I had more money.
So it started after you rinsed it? Did you ride it recently before the rinse and it ran fine?

I'm with BBC on this one, also you could have got water in your gas. Mine acted the same way when I got a hold of gas that had water in it. Just saying!

Mine did that a lot till i checked the gas cap and threw away the little white piece that was clogged. don't know why its there. Blow into your gas cap is the easiest way to check

Thank you for the tips. At first I thought I did get water in the tank even though the gas cap was tight. I did fill up the tank with 93 and added one of those water removing fuel treatments a few minutes ago. Hopefully that will solve the issue. Tomorrow when its daylight I'll check the vent and then take the bike for another ride. I'm hoping the problem its just something simple. I can't let the dog be sick as my friend is thinking of retiring his ZX-14 and switching over to a K9 or a Ridgeback.

Just take your cap off and pull the vent cap off. If that's not the issue this time it may save you a headache later.
