2010 Bulldog Bagger Speedo issues

Energy One
my speedometer works as it should but my tachometer ring (green lights) only goes to two (2) lights no matter how fast the motor turns. when you turn the key it cycles all the way across so I know the lights work. wires-plus supplied me with a retrofit kit that I had my mechanic install but that problem with the tach persists but the heavier gauge wiring the kit uses has been a Godsend. I think the speedos are cursed.

Curious if anyone found the answer. To me, wiring that never gets messed with, how can it just start acting up? I would think it would be something like the speedo or module or EHC. Electrical things can act up momentary. For example my 04 Chopper the headlight would go out, then come right back on. Bike would shut off sitting at a traffic light, then start right back up. Unfortunately in my case it was the EHC. I guess it never hurts to check your wiring especially if your messing with it. Hope in your case it is a simple fix. Wrote all this because the strong cup of coffee made me do it.
Vibration and rubbing under the tank and the harness in the frame.

I'm still trying to find the answer, took the EHC to Bigdog here in ST. Louis. It would not fit on their test equipment, so they hooked up two harnesses and check to see if everything was powered, which it was, but the kicker is either heat, cold or vibration will make the fail also according to them.

Morning, If the 3 things are making it fail the answer is pretty oblivious. I have Axles ehc replacement from Curtis in my 2010 Bulldog and it seems to be doing the job:oldthumbsup:

Good. I was going to recommend sending to WSW. I believe he has the ability to do some environmental test.

Axels, RIP, ESC all good options.

The good thing about Axels is they are plug and play and use the sub D connectors. (super easy install)

The bad thing about Axels is they use the Sub D connectors because they are not sealed.

Update on the Speedo and tail lights. I sent the EHC out to Curtis (Wildsteedworx), he tested it thourghly, the EHC is fine. I re installed in the bagger and everything works as it should. I have checked for loose connections and tried everything I could to get it to fail while on the stand.

If you look at EHC data, you will see a lot of fault codes for NO. 1,9 & 10. And If you read the BDM EHC Software Fault text, all of those are controlled by the ignition switch if I am reading it correctly. Could it be the Ignition switch that may be failing either by heat or vibration.

Could be the ignition switch. I had some similar problems with mine, couldn't make it fail in the garage. On the road it would shut off, right tail light would go out and speedo would do some weird things on occasion. Jumpered the ignition switch and everything worked fine, put in a new switch and no problems for 1000 miles so far.

I haven't taken the ignition switch out yet, I called Donna this morning to see if they had one in stock. She has both a single wire and dual wire, does anyone know which one I should order. I would like to get it coming before the day is over.

You need the 5t that has the accessory position. I believe that is a dual wire switch. You will have to cut the accessory wires out of the heat shrink and put the old JST connector on them.

In the process of taking off the coil cover in order to replace the ignition switch when I removed the top center bolt, a washer or spacer fell down behind the transmission never to be found again. I will try a magnet tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what that looks like and where exactly does it go
