BDM officially releases information on the new 2010 Chopper today Cyril Huze Blog this morning. Here is the full page. BigDogBiker was pleased to be allowed to post the first full pictures of this new bike before the official release.
You will notice the new license plate bracket used to meet sales overseas with all the new export markets. Looks like it may be part of the rear brake bracket. Kind of kool!

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 15, 2009) Big Dog Motorcycles® announced today the upcoming introduction of a lower price model based on its popular chopper-style platform. With production planned for May, 2010, the new model, simply called the Big Dog Chopper, will provide a high-style, high-quality Big Dog motorcycle experience with an MSRP in the $21,000 range.

Sheldon Coleman, founder and CEO of Big Dog Motorcycles, made the announcement to a select group of dealers at the Big Dog display at the annual Indianapolis-based trade show. We are excited to participate in this price range with an uncompromised motorcycle of this caliber, Coleman stated. The new Big Dog Chopper is loaded with high-quality components and performance specifications, and will appeal to a wide range of riders. Our dealers are very enthusiastic about this strategy, he continued.

Specifications of the motorcycle include a wide range of upscale components, starting with a 111 cubic inch S&S engine and a six speed transmission. In addition, components include chrome handlebar controls, a new handlebar array, chrome forward controls, the new BDM multifunction speedometer, machined aluminum wheels, a new rear suspension, a 42 degree rake, a beefy 250 mm rear tire and a full line of passenger-friendly accessories.

Coleman continued, This is a landmark achievement for our company. Thanks to the cooperation with our dedicated suppliers and the hard work of our engineering experts, we have been able to provide classic Big Dog performance and style to a broader range of consumers. I think it looks good. Honda's Fury is about 13,000.oo I think and for a little more money you can get a real chopper. I hope they sale truck loads of them. :2thumbs:

I think this is a cool looking chopper and I hope Big Dog sells tons of them. If I already wasn't in a deal for a K9 I would seriously consider getting one of these. For what you get at the asking price it would be hard for me to pass up.
And what's the deal with the Cyril Huze blog? I've never read so much negative crap about Big Dog as I do on there. Why does so many people hate Big Dog and want to see Mr. Coleman go out of business? Bunch of pricks on there.

The S&S 111 and Roadmax Trans were both used on AIH bikes.

Makes me wonder if BDM picked up inventory from AIH when they were liquidating.

I am wondering about the Roadmax Trans. There was a website for their US division up until a couple of months ago and now it is gone. I was able to track a number down and it just rang and rang.

I was thinking their (Roadmax) days were numbered, at keast here in the states. Maybe I am wrong.

Just a thought but I doubt old AIM motors would meet todays EPA requirements that BDM has to adhere to. I did like the ride of that 111 motor though, it was a smooth strong motor when I got to put some miles on it last year.

sweet, I hope they sell enough to stay around! I would say thousands but I kinda like having a bike out there that very few others have. So enough for them to stay in business and earn great profit but not over do it

I wonder who makes the electrical circuit for the bike. I see it has Omron relays and GEP on the fuse box cover. I wonder if it is a Chinese unit they are installing?
I think it is a good move in what they are doing with making the bike more main stream now.
I think it alleviates BDM from having to warranty so many proprietary items and allows the owners access to more shops to have things done if they do not work on them themselves. It would be nice if the hand controls are standard to the industry.
I wonder if they come in a carb unit as well as a EFI?

Looks like the new Chopper won't be in Daytona for all of you to see. It's on Scott's truck now and Rick is the one that will be in Daytona.
So far there is only one that is completed with paint and that is the blue one.
Maybe if enough of you let the company know that you would like to see it then maybe they can get it to Daytona.
