2009 Wolf Fluid change - need help

Hi:

I have a 2009 Wolf with the X-Wedge. I don't have a shop manual yet, and I'd like to do the 500 mile service. I need to know where the drain plugs are for the oil. I think I found the one for the transmission, but not sure about oil.

I'd appreciate any direction.

Look up under the frame from the left side of the bike just behind the primary. You'll see the oil tank up under between the seat and rear wheel. There is a small drain plug on the bottom left side of the tank. You'll need to use an extension to get up there.

WOW! They have got to be kidding! That tiny allen? That has got to make a huge mess. Thanks Jeff. I NEVER would have found that.

A little messy, but mostly just on the frame. The hard part is getting any type of drain pan under there. I just use an old cookie sheet.

Just curious, but why in the world would you do the 500 mile service yourself? Get your bike broken-in and some hours/miles on it and use the hell out of any potential warranty work.

Also the dealer does a "dump" of the rev hits and time at rev's as part of this service. If you end up having problems, you want to have the early histrory on the engine documented to the nth degree.

You make a good point regarding the dealer documentation. I guess my simple answer is convenience. I don't have to leave my bike with the dealer, or worry about weather, and getting a ride etc. The Wolf CPU is locked, and runs a restrictive break-in program that limits RPMs to the low 3000 range for the first 1000 miles or so. I figure I can't get caught doing something wrong anyway!

I changed the oil in my wolf about a month ago and had the same dilemma on were the hell is the drain plug and the when I found it I thought why the hell did they put it there. So I called my dealer and the tech told me that it was easier to just pull one of the oil hoses from the bottom of the motor.
Have to say it was a lot easier, just make sure the motor is warm and put a pan under the bike and let it drain.
