I have a 2002 Pitbull also. Im curios if that's going to help any? Remember the old days when they had springs under the seats. Seems like a band-aid to me. Now you will really be bouncing down the highway. :lol:

I have one but this is my first bike ever so I have nothing to compare it to.
I am 180 lbs. they sell a softer spring set "a must for lighter riders" (BDM)- $60.
Stock springs seem stiff for my body weight- by the time im into springs i am shortly after - hitting bottom.
I think i need lighter springs for softer but going to put on more miles before $60 for two springs

I went from an 06 Mastiff to an 08 Pitbull. Was a bit leery since it's a rigid.
Happy to say I am extremely pleased with the ride. I did replace the springs with the 180lbs rated ones. A little adjustment and away I went. There have been a couple of times that it reminded me that it was a rigid but I have 1127 miles on it and riding. It looks like a mini shock so you aren't just bouncing all over the place.
I did a bit of looking around to see who all makes these but not much luck.
I wonder if a mountain bike shock would fit? Some of them are air and not springs.

I'm on my way to see Dave from Chopper Shox (happens to live real close to me) and am looking at the Deuce Stainless Steel Chopper Shox. Dual 4" eye to eye aluminum bodied chopper shox. Shox have individual hardware for a cleaner look but are shown bolted together for display purposes only. Springs are 17.7ph stainless steel and are available in polished or brushed finishes. The weld tabs are mild steel. I'll show pics with them on and post how they feel.

Baldie, are you talking about the Chopper Shox? If so that's cool! I'm getting them in the softest setting they have. Should make riding more pleasureable!!!

I bought my bike at 500 miles and the shocks had been switched. I think I need the originals seeings how I am 225. So I may grab a set off ebay. I am sure I bottom out on the fender when I hit hard. But I love the ride and get mad compliments on the bike. I looked at the shox, not really feeling the copper color scheme, it conflicts with what I am running.

Zipsman, if all is good with my Chopper Shox I can sell you my stock one's off my Pit. They don't only have copper, they have gold, stainless, polished, brushed, black, black nickel, yellow, red, etc! Dave also seems like a cool guy to deal with. Just wants you to be happy with your ride! :up:

I just finished installing my new polished stainless steel springs from Chopper Shox and they look great IMO. Let me know what you think. It took me 2 hours to install with breaks. So it should take the average novice an hour without breaks. It was my first time doing an install like this. The funny thing is, these springs look titanium (which would be awesome). I haven't ridden them yet, so I'll let you all know soon how they feel. In the meantime, give me your thoughts on how they look.
BTW- The stock shocks are NOT adjustable to rider weight. They only adjust to the springs you put on. So, if you put on longer/shorter springs, the bolt on the thread goes up and down to match the spring height.
If anyone needs a play by play on how I did this let me know. I'll post it, but it's pretty straight forward.

I haven't ridden a Ridgeback, but as far as I can tell my scoot rides like any other bike I have ridden with shocks (albeit slightly stiff ones)...
I did switch to the ligher (180lbs) springs though early for a softer ride.
I think it's the best of both worlds - the look of a hardtail but the comfort of a softail...

The one's I have on my Pit from Chopper Shox are awesome and look great too! They have 3 levels of comfort depending on your weight and Dave from Chopper Shox can make a good recommendation for you.

Any news on the shocks of the 08 Pitbulls????
Just ordered mine and the bike is still sitting in Florida before being shipped to Germany. Got some time to buy upgrades (K&N, 585 cam.....)
I made contact to Dave from Chopper Shox and he told me his springs were 1,5" shorter than the original BD springs..... I am a little concerned about the riding height and the seat being to "flat" on the end (making me slipping off when accelerating ????????????). I am 180 lbs and would need the 180s springs of BD if not buying the Chopper Shox.
Just need a little "input" on that.
Another question:
Do the BD seat springs have hydraulic shock absorbers in them? The Chopper Shox don't...........

I ride an '08 Pitbull, and the first thing I did was to swap out to the lighter springs as I'm a relative lightweight (170 lbs) as I wasn't finding that the even at it's lightest settings, the springs didn't soften the ride for me. The lighter springs helped, but I still felt that the seat was too flat so when I'd give her a fist full of throttle, I'd find myself sliding back off the saddle. I love the look of the springer saddle, and thought about having the saddle re-made with more of a deeper dish to it, but I tried the BDM Drop Saddle instead. While it is now a full ridged, the drop saddle is much more supportive and drops you even lower on the bike. No more sliding off the back of the bike when pouring the coals to it.
