2008 K9 tranny drain plug

About to service mine for the 1st time, oil drain easy, primary drain easy, tranny not so easy. On my K9 directly under the drain plug are two of the oil lines that feed from the oil tank. There is no way to get to the plug without removing the two oil lines that I can tell. Kinda sucks if you already changed the oil first. It does have a 45 fitting on it, haven't tried to see if I can turn it any for clearance. Help !!!! :bang:

Use a blunt object and move the oil lines out of the way. If it looks like it will really be a pain then get a fitting the size of the plug and then add some hose to it and run it to a safe location or zip tie it to the oil lines and then when you want to change it just pull the plug off the end of the hose.
Older BD's are done this way.

Thanks Ray, took off all the oil clamps and was able to move the upper hose out of the way enough to get to the drain fitting. Puttin in the redline heavy shockproof.

I had the same problem with my 2008 K-9. Using advice from this forum, I cut off a hex wrench so that it just fit between the oil lines and the oil drain plug. Only needs to be about 1/8 inch or so long to fit into the plug to loosen it. Relocating the lines a little would be a better long term solution.

I want to get one these 300 rears on the lift with some down time. I know I can swaglelock plumb this outwards for a easier use.

Yeah I want to organize it with my work mechanic so I can get access to his fitting in his truck.

Yep, thought of that too, had one ready to cut but was able to move the lines just enough to get to it. Next time I'll use the "cut" off allen wrench and see how that works. Damn that RedLine ShockProof is some thick stuff, looks like cherry pepto.

Yeah usually works best to pull the tranny plug first... it will take the entire time of the rest of the service to drain that shockproof

The same on my 2007 K-9 You can use a T-Handle Ball end Hex on that and get to it without moving the lines
