RE: 2008 Models from Bikefest in Sanford, FL

Spent the afternoon at Bikefest in Sanford Florida (about 25 miles from Daytona Beack). The BDM truck was then with about 18 or so scoots including the new Mutt. About 75,000 attended which is up from 50,000 the previous year. I heading over shortly for the final day.

This thing is huge!!

Pretty cool seat on Springs, nice touch on the wheels - cute pup!

I love the new pitbull. The small details like the beach cruiser look to those paint jobs, the shock seat. But what's up with the hole in the fender struts... not that I don't like it but its different and I wonder if there is any use for it.

I was wondering the same thing??? You don't suppose that is where a passenger peg would mount??? The only reason I say that is because you don't see any other mounting holes on the frame????

Mutt

They had 4 Mutts at the event, and there is a 2-up seat for it plus the usual sissy bars, racks and more. The 2-up seat mounts to the same springs with suction cups to the rear fender. The 250mm tire which should make handling much easier. I asked what other changes on the '08s beside Fuel Injection were coming, other than more bags, a new set of forward controls (drilled holes and they had one on a pitbull) and other minor accessories. I ask the techs about exhaust and they said keep it stock until 3,000 miles and go for mad mothers as they seem to work the best -- the techs said the exhaust that comes on it is not all that good and the bracket holding it to the bike is likely to break but still recommended putting 3,000 miles on it before making any major changes so things break in better. One other good piece of advise was to daisy chain 2 oil coolers - lowers temp even more and the added oil is a good thing. Next week BikeToberFest Daytona, I 'll post more photos.

So the front of the rear seat hooks to the rear of the front seat and the shock but the rear of the rear is suction cuped to the non-moving rear fender as well?

RE: yup .. thats how it is

Good call, that's how it works! I will take shots of the other versions of the Mutt next week and post them. BDM has about 14 bikes on the truck mostly 08s and few older ones.

RE: Mutt other side

Here is a shot from the other side. When you see one with a 2-up seat it will become clear how it mounts. I 'll post one soon.

Notice the skinny tubes. It's been years since BDM hasn't used 1 1/2" tubes. Maybe the skinny tubes provide more flex!

Nope - not the Mutt - your picture is the new Pitbull.

Here's the MUTT, sitting on the Wichita show room floor:

Here's another Mutt, and the Washingto Oyster Run:

Anyone else notice that the 08's have different handlebars???

The 08 bar is one continuous bar that is bent / curved vs. previous bars are have the sharp angle on them.

I didn't notice the new shape but I really like that new cleaner speedometer mount. I want to use my new spinner cap when I alter my tank but will need the speedo out of the way. I may have to have Vicki do some research for me.
I installed the longer bars on my bike already and one issue I have now is no slack in the wiring harness. So these newer bars will most likely require a new harness for the controls.
