Saw some new 2008 models. The K9 went FI and ugly seat!

You can really see the difference with this pic. The 2008 seat surrounded by 2007s.

They did have one of the Ridgeback 330s with its HORRIBLE back seat too!

You think that is bad... could you imagine a push!

The new Ridgeback wheel

They also had a 2008 Mastiff with a sweet metallic green paint. But they went FI on it too.

"Normal" seat

Love all the new diamond cut jugs and heads.

The new wheels

Then you have the Mutt. There are so many things to hate. I don't dig the spokes, the handlebars are hideous, the speedo position sucks from the front, the headlight bucket looks like poo, and the forks look cheap for some reason. And totally not worth the SMALL break in price from a chopper tag.

I would have took more pics but I had stuff to do and was tired of being in THAT dealership.

They look like they would sit you to high and push you up to far to the bars.
I assume it would be a comfortable ride for a short person.

I'm stickin with what I have and no FI for me.

That seat may be a push or maybe it's more comfy that the stock seats.

The Mut just is not worth the money they are asking.

Thanks for the pics.

That's the same seat I have on my '07.
I can't believe that... I checked your pics. You can see the difference right?

The dealer guy was lovin the seat on the ridge for obvious reasons but I just can't imagine needing all that extra padding.

And no its not the push.

I've seen these Seats before and they are Nice, They Come on Thunder Mountain Customs and some others, This Picture is a Bit Misleading, if you look fast and have never seen this type of seat it looks very thinck, but that seam that runs up the crack of your ass is actually something that holds you to the bike a littel better. The total thickness of that seat is like an 1 1/2 on the seatback, is that about right BH?
Maybe 2", but I haven't seen my bike in a couple of weeks and I went with the 2-up before I left.

It's a nice seat and the bike feels fine, I feel stretched out and I'm 6'2". I'm debating with myself if I'm going to go with the extended forward controls or not.

Big Dog actually changed the stock K-9 seat near the end of 2006. The "new" stock seat is the one shown on the white bike in the picture above. Prior to that, it was available as an option known as the "STREAMLINE SOLO SEAT (232-000017-00)," but now it comes stock on all K-9's. You can still see it listed in the "2006 K-9 Accessories" section of the official BDM web site.

It caused some confusion when it was first released as the stock seat, because it requires a different pillion pad. You can see why if you compare the rear part of the seat, just forward of the fender. The rear part of the "new" seat is flat, where the previous seat had a higher "point" at the seam break. (Compare the white bike with the closer orange bike.)

The front part of the TWO-UP seat is shaped more like the original seat - I have one of each - so essentially I have both the old and the new. I find the sculpting of the new seat much more comfortable than the older shape of the two-up seat.

I haven't actually seen a 2008 K-9 yet, so I may be all wet here - maybe they do have a totally new seat. I'm just judging from the pics.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I got a question.

Does the new style seat (which I have on my bike also) push the rider forward 1 1/2"-2" compared to the old seat?

I don't believe it's the thickness of the seat as much as it is the angle of the top of the back rest part of it. The new design does not flow with the bike because of the top angle of that portion of the seat IMO

Seats

I am looking for a seat that is close to the stock look made from a brown /tan leather. Can someone help me with where to buy these types of customer seats?

Some of us with THIN asses (I wish) like the extra padding of the new K-9 seats. It's all what you get used to.
