2007 mastiff won't start in the rain

I have a 2007 Mastiff ive had for about a year. I took it to a bike run in Ruidoso NM earlier this year. it rained the same day I got there and my bike went haywire when I tried to start it.
Normally your suppose to turn the key to start position, press the ignition button, then hit start. in this incident, I turned the key and the bike wanted to start ( mind you while making funky noises and speedometer lights going wacko). Several bike mechanics suggested replacing battery. I did to no avail. others concluded it was a stuck starter. one mechanic noticed I had a bare ground wire going into starter. We got a blow dryer to dry it and voila bike started with no problems. It was suggested I buy a new rubber boot and shouldn't have anymore . Jump ahead a few months later, come back home where it rains again, however this time aroundmy bike is under the carport nice n dry and with its new rubber boot, but trying to start and the big guy starts going haywire again. Waited a few days later for climate to dry and voila . . . bike starts again with no problem. anyone experience this or knows what's going on here? I've concluded its related to moisture affecting something. any help is greatly appreciated.

My 07K9 did the same thing. It was the temp change affecting the EHC . I could get a hair dryer heat EHC up and everything would be fine. I replaced the EHC and I have had no problems.

Bingo! You answered your own question.

Moisture: It's a fog we live in. Desert is no different. Rust under the ground eyelet, not a clean metal to metal contact. That says we live in another part of the equation.

Electricity: It's in the air. The egg crossed the street kind of asks the question? Who is carrying whom? Oxygen to the lungs or electricity and the magnetic field we live in.

Resistance: For lack of a better way of explaining the path of electricity it finds ground at the speed of light. So moisture more or less built a bridge over the connection and it found the fastest way to ground. That being said, my guess is that it stopped at the connector. You let it sit there and burn the male/female tangs. In other words, you keep the starter button pushed in, smoke is going to head out of some connection or jobber [starter], etc.

I'll say that if water/moisture is the culprit, you blow the air dry, she starts, you have a path to message and that takes, 'only a tube of it knows for sure' is some dielectric grease to the connections. This sends the electricity past what would have been stopped as you are experiencing now.

Makes sense to me. How about you?
