2007 k-9 shuts off going down the road

this is the second time this has happend to me the first time i was below 20 mph starting of at a red light the second was at 75 going down the interstate. NOT VERY FUN!!!!! the bike loses all power the horn blowed continuesly whike this happened and the flashers came on. i pulled over turned the switch off and back on the same thing. turned the switch off and back on again the bike fired right up and i drove the rest of the way home about 50 miles. Any Ideas on what this could be. thank for the help ahead of time :bang:

i had same problem , shut of on highway an horn blowing !!!! brought it in to the dealer an it was the ehc module ,they put a new updated one on an its never done it again !!!

YEP, ehc is on it's last legs. Talk to Jake.

i just pulled the ehc out and water was in the connectors and die electric greases was white and crusty

try blowing it out real good,new dielectric grease and hopefully it will be ok

Hope that works for you. I haven't seen many people post about 07's K9s with ehc problems. let us know

i cleaned everything up good installed back on bike and it ran good the other day when i rode. got on it today and didn't get a mile down the road and came to a red light as i was slowing down the horn beeped and hazerds came on and it died. turned the switch off and back on started right up came to next red light same thing it did this about 4 times and i went back home and parked it. i guess im going to the dealership later this week. anyother ideas from anyone

How's your battery?

Make sure it has the juice you need and also check that the circuit breaker hasn't popped (otherwise it won't charge up)...

the battery is fine as far as i can tell. the only thing is it keep shuting off when i was slowing down and my spedo has been missed up for a while but i hven't rode it much since it quit working the odometer works but flops around inside the spedo the spedo is really erratic

Make sure all of the battery posts wire CRIMPS are crimped tightly and/or recrimp them. Mine worked loose and kept killing the engine. When the EHC feeds get low current from bad crimps it acts erratic and anything can happen.

How do you know your battery is fine? Have you checked it? voltage? Do you keep it on a tender? How far is your typical ride? It takes a good 15-20 mins to recharge each start attempt or success. Is it the original? If so its WAY WAY too old! Replace with a HD AGM battery for about $125 (but I did hear they went up in price).

Your bike is running fine when the RPMs are up and the stator is charging and providing enough volts to keep the EHC happy. Which BTW is no less than 12.8V. As soon as your RPMs come down, the voltage on your "good" battery drops and the EHC goes with it.

I was thinking about your key but the 2007s aren't known for that, and as soon as you said the traffic light slow made it die made me think it wasn't that.

My first reaction was like everybody else, EHC connections but you fixed that potential issue.
