G'day Tony!!!

Thank you.

That's great to know you have had success with getting your K9 back on the road :)

Could you recommend the kit you purchased? & Why you chose them over others? that would be greatly appreciated feedback. Did you receive a new software disk with your kit? Or did the original Big Dog software work on bringing her back to life?
If you prefer, My e-mail is swatfighter@yahoo.com

Sent you an email Nick.. Cheers..

Don't waste your time with that.
The R.I.P. Gen 2 requires the removal of the EHC and the rear harness and thats it.
Install the mount and module where the old EHC was, plug your backbone harness into the D-Sub on the new kit and route the rear harness connections and your done.

Is there something different other then the wires plus system to replace ech? Another company? I have wires plus on mine, not to happy already went thru two modules on my 04 ridgeback

Thx always hellcat

Yes
No more pulling the new harness up through the backbone.
Some would have you believe that the headlight harness needs to be replaced but if you make sure you have di-electric grease in your connector, make sure you have a ceramic connector, if using a Halogen bulb, and zip tie the connectors together to prevent movement between the two connectors you'll be fine. Better yet go to an LED and be rid of the heat issue all together.

Allot easier and I agree about the chaffing.
If your unfamiliar with your bike then you should go through all the connectors on the bike, check them for loose or reversed pins, I've found far too many of those, repair accordingly and apply a small amount of di-electric grease to them before putting them back together.

Boy...if you have an 04 and have to change the PCB boards...that's quite an investment. Plus the price of the kit. You could be a thousand dollars.

Easier than than rewiring the bike and installing Harley Controls. Cheaper? That depends on who does the rewire and what controls you decide to buy I guess.
Not to mention the ridiculous rattling you get from the Harley style controls. Just ask Raywood

:oldconfused: I just put one in a month ago, it was plug n play, what changed?
I'm not sure either. The only wiring was replacing the headlight plug with the new ceramic plug. Mine was completely plug and play, granted it was plugging in the new harness and not just replacing the EHC and using the stock harness and plug.

I would believe the RIP Gen 2 is a good replacements. It is easy to install and is a reliable system. What I like is all functions work as the same as from the factory and you don't need a battery tender.

When you say "all functions work as from the factory" are you saying the "on/off" switch is the same, the "Hi/Lo" beam is the same and the starter button does not function after the "off" button has been pushed?

Yes, just like the factory, but as an added function, the oil light does double duty as a low voltage indicator also.:old2:
Not sure about the starter button after its switched off, I never tried that, even on the stock ECH, I've never tried to start it back up. I have always hit the run then start or visa versa, which ever way it is.

Yes the are no changes to any functions. Not trying g to make myself sound stupid but, I'm not sure what you mean about starter button does not function after off has been pressed. Honestly I never tried it. Got to press run then start to start it though as normal.

Did you get the oil light option for voltage monitoring?
I just installed this also so I can tell which one it is, if I have oil pressure I know I can keep running to get where I can shut it down.
