2006 pitbull no power to ignition

I have a 2006 pitbull bought used changed battery and now have no power ti ignition nothing turn on when I turn key to on position. My first thought was the breaker reset button but srame pervious owner replaced it with aftermarket with no reset button checked ground its good checked main fuses all good replaced anyway just incase still nothing thinking it might of surged the ignition module when I supplied power being theres no reset on the breaker really considering a rewire with 40 amp breaker doing away with the ehc anyone have any advice on fix or if rewire is an option

Welcome from Kansas first of all. You say you replaced the battery? Double check all your battery connections. Not uncommon for one wire to slip out of sight and get missed. Did the bike run when you purchased it? Did the previous owner have known issues?

Yes ive had the bike for 6 months now ran great up until I changed the battery and not sure about issues with previous owner I wasn't told of anything to be aware of i have checked and rechecked all wires to terminals everything that should be connected is i have also in the past missed connecting a wire i have gone threw every connection im not getting power to the key hot to starter good coil even has power when I turn the key on theres no lights no power to start switch everything else seams to be powered ready to fire but nothing going to switch and no lights no power to odometer

The circuit breaker that comes stock would not cause your symptom. It is placed between the VR and Battery and only protects the battery from a short or overcurrent from the VR. If it was open the bike would still run but would not charge the battery. If the previous owner installed a fuse/circuit breaker between the battery and EHC that's a good thing just make sure it's not open with an ohm meter. If all was well before you changed the battery do what HMAN suggested because it's likely your issue is just a bad or incorrect connection.

Ok, here's a question. What battery did you put in the bike? These things are really picky about batteries. Recommended is a EXT Deka20l or a Braille 2015. Most others just wont work or wont last long.

What is the voltage when you read across the +(pos) and - (neg)terminals? Whatever that voltage is you should be able to read the same voltage from the + (pos) terminal to frame ground. If it's not you have an open. Optimum should be around 12.8 vdc. Be careful when messing with the battery connections always disconnect the neg side first when disconnecting and reconnect the neg side last when reconnecting.

I wasn't aware that some batteries would cause a problem i replaced it with a dura_last 310 cca it had a interstate

Your battery may be fine. The 310 cca is what's important as long as it is fully charged to approx 12.8vdc. The Deka and Braille are noteworthy because of reliability and longevity but the Duralast may also be good. I had good luck with Duracell. Lithium batteries are to be avoided though. I'm not sure why but they seem to cause problems with BDM.

No ive rechecked all wires to make sure they were connected to battery all fuses again seams everything has power but theres no power to ignition switch some reason theres no power going in to ignition anything that is powered by turning on the key doesn't work everything else has power

Pop the switch out and remove the wires check the switch with a ohm meter if switch is bad jump the wires and see if it starts then.

Thank you was late last nite when I was able to try the switch it gave no ohm reading had a bad switch when I jumped wires everything came on lights speedometer bike bumped over I didnt fire it up due to pissing off the neighborhood at 1 in the morning but I will give it a go after work thanks again ordering a new switch that is if there even available haven't looked them up yet but any way thanks again guess it was just a coincidence with the replacement of battery and switch going bad

HDM should have a switch.

310 cca is poor for the 117 cui engine.
Like Hman said double check the connectors for lost wires and thight + and - contact to the battery.
Check fuse closed to battery.
Any light on your ehc if you turn ignition on?

If your not hell bent on original equipment I believe this ign sw ( 8N3679C Ford tractor 1939 - 1964 $15.99 ) has been used as a replacement for a few guys on this site. My notes say it fits perfect on a K9 but I don't know if it fits a Pitbull. Shop online to find your best deal it seems to be very available.

Definitely not hell bent on original i will check it out thanks... seams every BD part is $ 199.99 to 299.99seams more than a bit ridiculous for an ignition switch man i love this bike ride it daily its a great ride for a hard tail frame I down sized the rear tire one side for lil better lean in turns took two inches off the down turn on pipes to add a little more lean I live in the mountains of western nc just the two adjustments you can roll down these curvy rds with a lot more comfort and no pipe drag

Haven't been able to get back to the bike till now do to some family issues but to answer your question no there is no lights on the ehc when the key is turned on

Is the Ech getting power ? If so it’s probably fried.

Did you ever get the new ignition switch you diagnosed as bad back in October? Have your battery load tested and check all your connections again. 5 months without using the bike can certainly be detrimental to a battery.
