Chain drives also give you more choses of final gearing. And if you do break a belt be prepared to pull the wheel. You can replace a chain a lot easier and make a roadside repair.

As i know it our stock belt drive can only be changed on the rear sprocket. the front is Baker/BDM and made in only one size.

The primary is Baker with a direct drive engine sprocket and clutch sprocket with no other sizes available. I looked all over the place in an atempt to slighty lower my drive ratio.

What items did you purchase to make the swap? We wants to know?

So why are belt drives so popular?

When I had my import bikes I got ribbed for the "low grade" ride I had. Needed a Harley according to everyone. Belt drive, Air cooled, 2 cylinder, rigid rear, springer front, etc.....

Put my buddies crotch rocket next to my Dog, and he has a lot more technology for 25% to 35% the cost of my Dog. But it doesn't matter because when his bike is next to mine no one ever notices his ride.:D

Just seems hard to justify the cost of the American bikes in comparison.

Vac... if your belt goes... you have to pull the swingarm bud.



And there is no way I'll go back to a chain. I got wore out of those during my rocket years...

Yep you're right Gas but I got a Rigid frame. I got hacked about the belts when looking to modify my overall final drive ratio and Baker not having any other parts that would fit the Dog. I live near the foothills off the mountains and 6th gear is like having a girl with hairy tits. I think the only thing I could do was go to a 70 tooth rear sprocket and that would reduce my final by about
.23 or around 300 RPMs. Plus it would give quicker response with out engine mods. But then theres the issue about finding a close match sprcket and not having the belt hit the chrome gaurds. Plus I wouldn't mind if I had to replace a chain every year:D
