Does anyone know what I could expect for top end on my 2006 117" 6 speed K9. I had it 110 and did not have any bad handling at that speed. Road my first 430 mile day and I just love this thing.

I hit 135 on mine and then the thing got squirrely as hell cause it blew the left bearing out on the rear axle, I wouldnt attempt it again, these things arent made for speed, just looks and slow cruizing.

Just out of curosity, how did you verify you were doing 135?

I would have to disagree with ya!
I know myself..Gas Man...AlHall and Doug G were doing 110+ on the back roads on the way back from Pig Pens last Oct. all of our bikes seem to run good at that speed:whoop::D

hey mclovin, a friend was riding next to me on a m109, and chopper dave, hate to tell you, but 110 isnt that fast, most 4 door grocery cars hit that, so now you know why 110 doesnt impress me.

oh shit! my bad....sorry dude...yeah 110 isn't fast....damn...sorry I was doing 135:roll:
actually I really don't care how fast they go.....I had mine over 110 and it was smooth....but I usually don't ride like that...just saying....

hey cd, I never said 135 was fast, I just said thats what I hit on mine and wont do it again due to reliability and handling of the motorcycle, dont really feel like eating asphalt for lunch.

I have had the 05 chop up to where the speedo needle hits the reset button...had to be somewhere between 135-145 mph. The bike felt like it was glued to a rail...solid and smooth as can be. Only did it once though, ya gotta get it outta your system one time!

well, tex, after the wheel bearing going out and the rear going a little nuts, Ive decided no, plus if I want to go fast Ill throw a leg over another crotch rocket, then Id ride 175 back n forth to work like I use to just cause I could, but for now thats going to have to stay at the negative side.

Does over 110mph for an hour and a half (and at times the speedo needle was bouncing in excess of 120mph)with full camp gear loaded on a hot day riding with your "ride bud" toe to heel count?

Pics and vid of that trip are posted on this site.

If I was on a 'busa or similar, 120mph would not be impressive, yet the rider was on a big dog cruiser/chopper bike, which in my book makes it impressive.

Speeds are all relative and how one rides is not for me to decide what is right or wrong. we all have various levels of comfort and to some going 60mph may be top end, and to them I say great, I will still ride with them because they ride. You want to ride 130 on (whatever), great. 190? ok, but I would bet most are the most comfortable riding close to the speed limit.

Want to impress me? Live to ride another day so we can ride together.

Hope to see you all out there someday.

BTW: in my current job, I have seen some seriously fucked up wrecks and several fatalities and for the most part, none of these needed to happen. I was also in an accident that should never have happened and yet I and the others all walked away from it with no injuries except my 1 ton dually was destroyed.

There are some seriously ignorant drivers and motorcycle riders out there these days.

Keep it real folks.

If you don't like your Bigdog go buy a fucking jap bike and go to there forum and say " I hit 135" blah blah blah

hey byrdog, whats with the hatred? I didnt say one bad thing about big dog, all I was saying was I dont think 110 is fast, hell, I dont think 135 is fast either, so why does this mean I have to go sell my dog and go buy another jap bike?

why does it always come to a pissing match with some people on this site, I read alot of the post on this site and there is always someone not looking "outside the box", thats why I usually just read them and never reply cause of people like you, so take a chill pill, drink a beer and relax, its not the end of the world just yet.

by the way knotso, I agree, close to the speed limit is problably the most comfortable, but everyone is different, some people love the thrill of speed, others not so much, thats why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream, cause everyone is different, to each his/her own. like you said, just live to ride another day.

Wow, hoespowa n speed, equals darwin awawd.
Really to each his own but IMO trying to see how fast a big ass ol chopper will go is about like sticking your dick in a bulls ass looking for candied apples, however fun you might think it is,,,,, it just makes no sense.
If you wanna cruise at 100, thats cool but just get home safe my brothers, ive been off a bike at over a hundred and its not fun I Promise.

I think it's more a matter of how long you can hang on before you blow off the bike! I had my '05 Chopper up to 105mph once, but my fingers felt like they were starting to separate at the knuckles, so I backed off!:lol::whoop:
