2006 K9 117 starting issues

After sitting for 14 Months I replaced the clutch cable rode the bike home,, Drained the old gas, Put new gas in would not start, So i pulled the bowl off the carb, Cleaned out thy jets and sprayed it all out with gumout. Put it back together and still nothing. Took a break went back outside and the bike fired right up. Took a nice 20 or so mile ride. Came home let it sit about 5 minutes and would not start again. Let it sit and charge again for an hour or more went out and fired right up. Then i shut it off and NO START again. I am developing a true Love Hate Relationship with my Big Dog, Any Advice here would be GREATLY APPERCIATED

Before you start it, crack the gas cap. Sounds like ya may have a clogged air vent in the cap. If it still has the small white plug, it should be removed. Jmo.

If your battery is old (2 years or more) get it load tested. Low batteries can cause unusual things to happen. An intermittent crank sensor can act up and give you headaches. They mostly fail after warming up and then work after cool down.
Loosen ,clean and reinstall all the connections on the battery. Also pull , clean and regrease your EHC connector. Be careful not to bend any pins.
You must have good Karma because you break down at home and not on the road

It appears that when i hit the run button the red light on the ignition module goes out and the bike will not start, When i hit the run button a second time the red light comes back on and it fires every time. I will still pull the EHC connector and regrease but i would not have looked there just yet without your post, Thank You THE Big Dog Lives Again Thank You Thank You Thank You and did i say Thank You

I would be curious is it standard procedure to have to hit the run button twice to get it to fire/start? When you turn the key on the red light comes on the ignition module, When you hit run ONCE it goes out and the hit run a SECOND time it comes back on ad fires every time?

Do not hit the run button when you turn the key on and see of it will.start which it should...when you are hitting the run button once it is turning the ehc off...that's why when you hit the run button the second time it comes back on...if it has an axel ehc on it you will not have to hit the run button if they set up that way when it got programmed...just turn the key on and hit the start button
