I was on the new BDM parts website looking up stuff for my 06 K9 and come across this DT K9 designation... What is this and how can I tell if my bike is or isnt a DT?

I was actually looking at the same thing this morning, except the '07's. From what I can tell, if you look at the steering head, the DT frames do not have the machined surface for the project number on the left side. The BDM frame drawing shows it, the DT drawing doesn't.

There were a few other minor differences in the drawings too... but I'd go with Amylulu on this.

I don't know Amy - Someone told me something a long time ago and it seems to hold true. My frame is 5J11Y, but it is Daytec for sure. What I was told is a fast way to know is look at your original axle covers. They are interchangable but Daytec has "flat" covers, while BD used a "dome" type cover. That's true in the exploded view on the parts page and they have different part numbers. So flat cover = Daytec. I think 06 was a transition year. Also if you have a screw boss under the seat next to the battery welded on the frame, it's Daytec. I have that and use it to anchor a small leash to prevent someone from stealing my seat.
