2005 ridgeback, possible clutch problems

Ill try and make this short and sweet- I was riding in 3rd gear and going about 35 mph and I went to upshift into 4th gear and the bike went into a false neutral. Tried shifting into any gear I could get so I could pull off the road and couldn't get anything. I tried starting up the bike about 10 minutes later and it wouldn't even start, it would free spin as if the starting gear wasn't catching at all. Got it towed home and popped open the primary cover. This is what it looks like-

If y'all could give me guidance on what to do next or any questions I can answer for y'all to better help me then shoot em my way!

Broken trans main shaft
Judging by the wear on the primary cover your compensator nut has come loose also

Time for some major primary maintenance

What primary is that? It's not BDM is it? My 05 doesn't look anything like that... Just saying, Is it an 04 model?

Just clarifying, the subject says 2005... :D
Agreed but it's an 04. Never judge a book by its cover. Saw the other day someone had an eBay posting for a 2004 ridgeback for sale, he had the owners manual that said ridgeback. Well guess what it was a 2004 Chopper, lol.

Anyways, nothing more to add here to what kaptain said it's clear as mud. Other than primary maintenance you will need a rebuild of the tranny hopefully you can salvage everything but the mainshaft appears to be of no use. Man that primary cover is beat to shit.
