I have a 2005 Ridgeback....Has anyone previously posted abouted changing the clutch from factory 12 plate to a Baker 9 Plate...my local shop (not a former Big Dog Dealer) change the clutch end of last year riding system...was good in lower gears, however in higher RPMs in 5th and 6th it would slip...not alot but noticable....I also had a bad cable...we changed that out...This year he tore it apart again also changed the diapham spring with one he had in the shop...seem to correct slipping but now clutch lever is soo tight its too hard to use...

I spoke with the shop who was the original dealer (about 3 hours away) they said they knew how to correct but wint tell me because they want the work...any help would be appreciated want to get back in the wind.

Baker's term of 'ergonomic break-over feel' is all about where that wave plate is positioned upon assembly. The break-over is to have a flat plate. When it breaks over, the wave is the ergo to help with the push.

Setup means, were is my wave in the plate?

1. Flat = I am at full clutch pack.
2. Curve = I am having a band-aid fix with a possible stronger plate but my pack is wearing down.
3. Wave = I have too much curve being my plates are worn, the pack has a depth, and now the wave not being pushed back with more plate fiber to push the wave flat, I have arm pump at the lever. What should I do?

A. Buy all new plates and that means frictions and steels. Why? I want my old plate back so there is plenty of grip with the original wave plate. I am at full pack again so I have the ergo back so it flops the diaphragm less and the ergo is a lot easier returning flat or it ergo's-over just so much without arm fatigue.

B. If I only had one more steel plate, I'd band-aid the slipping by reusing the original wave plate. I would have some sort of pack back to getting that plate to ride flat. Right now, I am so over the curve, I may have too much wave and that may stop the slipping, but the wave is past the ergo.

C. Where is my wave in my diaphragm? Am I flat now with this new plate or do I have a curve that sets in arm pump, but my slip is gone. We see how that wave plate operates vs. the correct pack measurement to keep the diaphragm flat?
