2005 Pitbull no start

Ok, done a ton of reading on here and can't figure out my problem. Turn on the key get all the lights and everything, hit the starter and it just does the click, click, click thing. Took the starter out cleaned the contacts in the solinoid, clean all the connections while I had it apart. Put everything back together, got it to turn over once or twice and started the click, click, click again. It has a brand new ballistc battery in it, fully charged. So I'm at a lose here, no idea what else to check. Any ideas?

Well since you it did turn over once after cleaning the solenoid connections it sounds like you need to completely rebuild it
Did you bench test the starter while it was out?

No, just cleaned the solinoid. Was hoping thats all it was, but apparently not.

Only 5500 miles, bought it with 4500. Has not been riden like it should, thats for sure.

You should pull it again and bench test it. If it spins up out of the bike then you have an electrical issue somewhere. If it not it needs a rebuild.

Thanks for the help. Guess I'll pull it again and double check everything, and test it. The EHC wouldn't cause this would it?

Not likely
The likely culprit, if you pull the starter and it spins up, is the start button. But you will need to troubleshoot that circuit and make sure there are no grounds.

Did you load test your new battery? Just a thought.

I have seen new batteries go bad, you owe it to yourself to have it load tested before chasing after your own tail.
Consider adding a "Slam Button" while you have the starter out, Curtis can hook you up with one.

Ok, I know it's been a few weeks since I posted last on this issue. The battery was good, had it checked. Got the bike running decently, took it out a couple weekends ago for a poker run. Stopped at one of the shops along the route and went to start it up and got the click, click, click again. After trying to start it a few times, the battery seems to have over heated and started smoking. Any body got any ideas? Was told it was probably a bad charging system? If it is the charging system, why go with a 38amp system versus the 32amp system? Only reason I see going with a higher amp is if I had a ton of lights and radio/amps on the bike, which there's not.
