2005 BD Chopper Speedo Problem

Greetings All,
I have a 2005 BD Chopper with about 4100 miles on her. I have had the Speedo replaced by the dealer a few years ago under warranty. I have not had any problems until today. My Speedo needle buries itself past 120 markers when I get on it and doesn’t respond to changes in engine RPM. It actually seems like it continues to rotate around the dial. The bike seems to run great even with the needle buried and the Speedo acting funky. I can reset it by turning the key off and hitting the on button. The Speedo will then work properly through normal acceleration (below 3K). It just acts up when I pull her hard. You also need to know that when I reference pulling hard, I really mean just mid-throttle quick shift acceleration (not exceeding 3500-4000). I am not even running close to WOT in any gear.

Appreciate any ideas or insight to remedy this annoying issue.

How old is your battery? Keep it on a tender?

Checked the speedo sensor?

Check the connections under the gas tank for the speedo, to ensure they are rubbing?

This was a problem when BDM introduced the K9. It seemed pretty isolated to those bikes, was a vibration harmonic that it could send it into a tizzy. Start by making sure everything is tight, and you handlebar bushings are in good shape. This is a mechanical vibration issue.
