Ok i bought a 2005 big dog chopper last week. I had it dyno'd ,tuned
I cannot post a picture of the dyno sheet but the numbers were
70.95hp
94.73 torque
I had all the jets replaced because it was running super lean, it is running good now

However the numbers are quite lacking, I believe this engine has a restrictor plate in it?
I talked to the S and S guys directly, they told me to cut the cylinders down .040
.585 cam
and new rocker boxes
and of course exhaust.
Now i have mechanic to do all of this the only problem i have is locating an exhaust system to use.

Also this bike has electric gremlins anytime you hammer down on the throttle.
1st the spedometer read 30mph faster than it should, turned bike on and off a couple times and it fixed it self
Now today the high beam is stuck on, after a a hard throttle application.
Fun bike but weird problems with it

I am sure most of what i addressed with my bike has been discussed in the forum, i am reading through as much as i can to learn from everyone.
Thanx all

When the high beam comes on and won't go to low beam, it means your low beam is burnt out. Get a new bulb...:2thumbs:

look on the carb and see if it is stamped with "super E" or "super G". if it is an E it probably has the restrictor plates between the intake manifold and the cylinders.

Gota 05 myself and in the process of getting feed back on rocker boxes and valve springs, retainers. Just curious what kind of mileage is on yours. Definitely sounds like its restricted.

i have about 9500 hundred on it now, bought it with 8800 miles

You can find an S&S 600 cam on ebay for less than $100 most times. It's about a 3 hour install. Most of your time is spent adjusting the pushrods back once you get the cam in. You may also want to consider bumping up to the Super G carb. As for exhaust, there are many choices depending on your taste. Check out the "show me your exhaust" thread to get an idea of all the variety. Definitely change out the TP rocker boxes to S&S the first chance you get. Although some have run the TP's with no issues, many have had major issues from using them.

That seems really low to me. Im no expert but.... I just had my Road King dyno'd. It had a 96", I had em build it up to the 103" (stage II), super tuner, true duals, thunderheaders, & SE Heads. My dyno was 90hp 105tq

My Pitbull, which is a stock '04 117" which Ive done nothing too other than pipes, & a cosmetic air cleaner would eat my RK for breakfast, & shit it out. Ive never dyno'd it but am thinking about it... cause Im curious as to where its at.

been checking out the exhaust section trying to figure out exactly what i want. I care about performance then sound, also retaining the ability to ride the nights victim on the back !

Just the opposite here, my 2010 FLHRC (Fuel Moto 2-1-2, stage 1 AC and PCV) will run circles around the BD. Dog seems to run OK but it doesn't have the low or high end the HD does. Seems like it takes a long time for the motor to wind up. Haven't checked for restrictors yet and it has the shorty E carb.

wow  That surprises me. Dont get me wrong, my RK isnt a slouch, but it doesnt pull like the dog. I think when the weather improves (snowing now) Im gonna get take the dog to the same tuner, & have it dyno'd. I'd like to see what it runs in comparison. I'll be shocked if it isnt considerably higher in hp & tq.

I've been looking at the Martin Brothers Zoomies, it's a 2 into 1. I have the V & H 2 into 2 now and they sound ok but I drag them turning right.

Instead of a new bulb, a better solution would be to get the HID kit from Jake

RB Racing is probably the best performance exhaust out there
