Well., Wher to start. I have posted on here a few times and thanks to you all I figured them all out.. I replace the battery and crank/cam sensor and got the recalls done.. Big Dog of Tampa said the EHS was fine, HAving only 3500 miles on the bike. I go out to start it after a great night of riding and I didnt hav the tender on for 5 hours and my brand new battery that I just got was dead. Hooked it back up the the tender and now just wont fire. Its cranks and is gettin fuel and spark BUT THE HEADLIGHT IS NOT ON, OR IT WILL BE FOR A SECONDS AND FADE OUT. I dont know what the light mean on the EHC but 1 in from the first light on both side it lit????? Can anyone give me any advice.. I have had nothing but problems with this bike. I thought the sensor had it all back to normal.. Could it be the EHC or does it have to do with the Headlight?????

Thanks in advance!!

I don't know how much I can help you but I'll try.

If everything was fine and you were riding it all night and then it was dead either the VR wasn't charging the battery or you have some short (or EHC). Best off start with the basics from the electrical side. Remove your battery and put it on a battery charger overnight and make sure it's charged. Then you can take it to auto place and have it load tested. Then, if good, reconnect your ground wire first and just touch the positive to the battery + to see if it sparks from a short right off. If not turn the key. Headlight should go on. If on then fades right out then problem. (To be dealt with after you have performed the above). If good headlight then hit run button and see if bike turns over. If it runs and starts put volt meter on battery running and see if you have 13.5 vdc to 14 vdc. If 12.xx and going down bike is not charging. Stop and fix. OK, that's it for now until you get this far. Good Luck!

Do as BC says.... here is what the lights mean on your EHC. Looks like your low beam is lighting up.

Thanks guys!! It has to be a short in the headlight.. I heard that they heat up and mess up. I am goin to try to get the light off and look at the wires. That low beam light indicator is on the EHC but the headlight is out.. HMMMMM HAs to be a short in the headlight which drainded the battery.. Would a short in the light cause the bike not to fire?? Turns over but wont fire??

Thanks in advance,

:2thumbs: Same EXACT thing I'd do! Only other thing to add at this point, didn't say brand/type of battery you bought, but NEVER skimp on CCAs!!! Steer clear of off-brands and bargins! My experience has been a MINIMUM standard Harley softail battery. These motors will literally kill a bargin battery!!!

The light being on on your EHC means there is some kind of fault with your low beam. Mine did the same thing (light on) when my low beam went out on my 04. Yea I would check the wiring going to the headlight.... Is there any other lights coming on on the EHC while you are trying to crank it? What about the light on the ignition module?

could be a bad headlight bulb and a bad battery however if the bike has fuel, compression, spark should run.but ]then again may not be good spark.what ehc do you have?black or yellow?the headlight going off was a sign of the ehc going south in the black ehc's.just sayn

I have the black original ehc.. Yes the ignition light comes on.. Thanks alot guys!!! I am goin to start with the headlight I guess..

Hmmmmm. That is not making sense then. And you have checked the spark at the plugs? As said before maybe just not enough spark but if the battery is turning the bike over hard enough then it shouldn't be the problem with fire!!!

if your head light plug is melted it could be shorting out & causing the ehc to malfunction.. some of the earlier models had this issue...then agin it dosent have to be in the headlight plug it could be anywhere in the harness leading up to the headlight.. I'd check the headlight connectoe due to it can cause ehc failure if it continue.. there is a newer version plug if your hasnt ever been changed

:iagree:no sense!got spark, fuel, compression should run.unless timing is out but which i have been told over and over the timing is locked in.those original ehc's were junk.just sayn

So , If I go to the wires plus will the problems be gone!>>!>!>!>!>!>!>!>!>!>!> After I check the headlight???????

The wire plus won't hirt but I would make sure,if the problem is something else other than your ehc you will still have the problem! My high beam was acting up for a while than I had no start one day and start the next. This went on for about 2 weeks and the ehc went south. No high or low beam and no start at all.Just make sure you check everything first.Thats just me,but what do I know.

Something you might try if you think the headlight is the problem, disconnect it!I just don't get why the headlight would cause no start!Again anything is possible on these dogs.My 04 has had every problem associated with these bikes:loony:
