2004 chopper stalling?

It seems like I loose power rather that a "stall". I start it up immediately, and there is no problem re-starting. Don't usually have time to wait sitting in the middle of an intersection!!!!

Are all the lights still on when the bike dies? What lights do you see on the EHC right after it dies?

And just thinking out loud here, are there any kinks in the gas line? And does it make any difference if you have the fuel petcock on "RES" instead of "ON"?

Not sure about the EHC lights.
I'll try the petcock on "RES" and see if that makes a difference.

Was hoping this was a carb/mechanical problem that I could figure out and fix. But with big dog EHC and electrical issues I have a feeling it's back to the shop where they will create more problems than fix for BIG $$$$$....!!!!

Did you already do all of this?

Check "everything", wires, connectors, battery strength (load test) and connections. :2thumbs:

Add dielectric grease to "every" connection! :2thumbs:

If you don't find what's ailing the dog, PM me Monday and I'll be glad to help! :2thumbs:

It just seems to reason for me that if it is an electrical connection it would happen at other times and not just the times I described. (But like I said I'm no expert) Just REALLY FRUSTRATED with the bike!

The battery being fully charged really doesn't mean squat with these dogs. Have it load tested! :2thumbs:

And as far as checking your wires and connectors. Either do them all or you're wasting your time in locating the problem. :bang::bang::bang:

Here try this, thanks to Gas! :2thumbs:

dead

added per your last response:

An electrical short, open or anything can make the EHC trip and shut the dog down, dead as a door nail, until it's able to reset the fault. Which also includes added circuit resistance from contamination and that produces heat in the circuit also!

Clean and sealed connections are a must! :2thumbs:

dead

That would tell you that the EHC isn't doing a total reset so it would seem the problem is in the ignition, carburetion, or something like that.

EHC lights can be a helpful troubleshooting tool so it would sure be a good thing to know what's lit... :D

My thinking on this is that you could potentially have some sort of blockage in the fuel supply.

One other thing to check and doesn't really have anything to do with temp. Could be the ignition switch. My 05 behaved exactly like this and I gutted the fuel cap and didn't solve the problem. Put a bypass on the ignition switch problem went away. So I installed an HD switch. Problem gone.

I'm now thinking the ignition switch too. When I purchased the bike, it had a bypass switch on it but when I had the EHC replaced the shop removed the switch, thinking the bypass was there due to an EHC issue. Is it difficult to wire the bypass?
