Been doing some reading and still have not found the actual instructions to calibrate a 2003 Autometer Speedo. It is on a 2004 Chopper Baker 6 Speed. The speedo is off by about 10%. From what I gather

  1. Turn bike off
  2. Push and hold trip button on speedo
  3. Turn ignition on
  4. The speedo will flash -_-_- on the screen.
  5. Then I think if I push the button again I get a 0---0 or something.
  6. Then ride the bike for 2 miles
  7. Push button again.
Is this correct?

Although the speedometers are programmed at the factory, the calibration can be checked and
changed if needed in the field. To check or change pulse count, follow the steps outlined below:
1. Make sure the speedo is set to read either MPH or KPH whichever is desired. To change the
setting from MPH to KPH or visa-versa perform the following: While holding down the
speedo button on the face of the speedometer, turn on the ignition key and the speedo display
window will show “-_-_-“ (see Figure 3) at this point keep holding down the speedo button
and after approximately 7 seconds the display will go the odometer reading with the setting
changed. To change back to the previous setting, just repeat this process. If the speedo is set
to read KPH there will be a dot at the upper right corner of the first digit (left) in the
odometer and the dot will disappear if changed to read MPH (see Figures 1 and 5).
2. The next step is to set the speedo to the calibration mode. While holding down the speedo
button on the face of the speedometer, turn on the ignition switch and the display window
will show “-_-_-“. At this point release the speedo button and wait a couple of seconds and
then again press it and the display will then show ”O--------O” (see Figure 4). At this point the
speedo is ready to be calibrated. Now ride the motorcycle a known 2-mile distance and then
stop but do NOT turn off the ignition switch. After stopping the bike with the ignition switch
still on, once again press the speedo button on the speedometer and the display will show a
number (see Figure 6). The value in the display is the number of pulses that the speedo
counted in the 2-mile distance. This value will disappear by pushing the button one more
time. If these instructions are followed and the display shows “Err” instead of a number then
repeat the process. When a value is displayed press the speedo button once more, the value
becomes the programmed value. For the correct speedo calibration do not accept any value
not listed in Table 1.
Before you ask.... Table 1

Calibration
The speedometer calibration is based upon a certain number of pulses generated by the speedo
sensor in a 2-mile distance. The pulse count is programmed at the factory. See Table 1 for pulse
count values for all of the 2003 Big Dog models.

Scratch that off the list.. Thanks

I used my GPS for the distance and the calibration number if off from what you listed but it is within just about spot on with GPS unit. Also used a "you are going too fast" sign and it is on as well. So thanks again.
