I'm new to this site. i'm currently serving overseas. i've owned a cbr as well as a softail custom. I really like the looks of the chopper softail and pitbull. I'm 5'7 and i'm worried about the reach on the chopper, and i'm worried about the rough ride of the pitbull as i will be puttin miles on the bike they won't be a trailer queen. Just trying to get any input on which would be a better model. I also really like the coyote, but i'm trying to stay under the 15k mark. any input on these bikes would be appreciated

Welcome to Big Dog Biker from Washington State and Thank You for your service.:2thumbs:

All bikes mentioned can be had for under 15k in this economy and do some SEARCHing and you will find a lot of discussions about your questions.

See Ya:cheers:

Welcome from Washington State, hope you enjoy the site. The best thing you should do is test ride them to make sure which one will do you. I'm 5'7" also and the Mastiff suited me very well when I went looking. By the way, I appreciate the service that you're providing to our nation...:flag::cheers:

Welcome

Welcome. I purchased a 2004 chopper last year. It fits me just about perfect. I am about 6 feet even. Cant tell u much about the other bike, for i have no experience on them. I took the bike on many short routes, but have taken it on on long tour. Again, each time it felt great to me. If you have any questions about the 2004 chopper feel free to PM me.

Welcome to the dog pound and thanks for your service to our nation. I see by your zip that you hail from Illinois so we're talkin streets that suffer from a lot of frost heave not doubt, just like NY no doubt. I think you'd be better off with something with some suspension. I really enjoy the ride I get with my o4 Mastiff. Something to consider is all I'm sayin. Again thanks for your service, stay safe brother.

I'm 5'7 as well. I needed to add the 2" push seat on my ridgeback. I could reach everything but wasn't very comfortable. Not to sure of the difference would be for a chopper. Lots of good deals to be had on used bikes right now though.

I'm 5'8" and have an 04 chopper, ended up putting 2 1/2 extensions on it and now fits like a glove. Have done 300-400 miles a day with no problem, riding it to Vegas in April (1000 miles).

jragusa86,

Thanks for your service :flag:

I still have an 05 chopper for sale which you can see here: FS- 05 Chopper

FYI, the '04 Chopper is left side drive and '05 was the first year for right side drive on the chopper.

Good luck no matter what dog you choose!

Cheers,

dingo

Thanks for your service jrag :flag:
BDM makes a push seat that will move you several inches closer to the bars and controls if you feel to streched out.
