Thanks guys I am excited for sure. 41 days and counting till I am home and playing with it.

I figured the front brake line was attached at some point with the shape and the long run with nothing holding it.

I have seen them mounted both ways. I like the look of it forward better, Wonder how much difference in power it really makes? Got a link to a thread or something?

Mounting it Vertical will NOT give you more power.... what it does is in the vertical position is getting the air flow smoothly into the carb when in the horizontal position sometimes you get a stumble between jet transitions (Intermediate to Main - around 2500-300 Rpm)

The cure to it is (as per S&S Carburetor Manual) to get rid of the Bowl Vent Plug from the Carburator, if you are running an after-market air cleaner.

You might have it already well set up and there will be no need for you to touch anything. Are you at the same altitude (sea level) as the previous bike's location? alttitude does affect carburators tune-up.

If you need the S&S manuals at some stage let me know.

as per links.... just do a search... plenty to read here.

Thanks for the links man!

The bike was tuned as it is right now and the altitude is very close. SO hopefully its on, if not I will tweak it or have it done one of the 2. Hopefully it has that issue addressed as i like the forward look.

Once I am back I would like the chrome elbow, maybe someone wants a black one.

The owner was a spender, but not a wrench turner. SO its hard to get exact parts of what all is on the bike.

Like the forward controls, they dont look stock.

The pegs, grips, Bars, levers... all different, would like to know brand, or what they fit so If i wanted to change pegs, I could find something to fit.

Great looking bike! Dont know if there is any advantage or disadvantage to running a chain drive but I can tell you I personally am a big fan of chain drives. I may convert mine in the future. Good luck with it!

Mittens, I'm almost as excited for you to get home as you are, with as many posts as you have done. Thanks for serving, and I hope your dad will give it up.

Thanks guys, its been a good time killer, researching, reading, shopping for things for it.
Sucks my dad has not been able to ride it with the Stator being bad. he rode it home, and one afternoon to test it.. thats it. The seller assured me and my dad Zero issues. SURE....

Oh well, motor wise seams to run great, Tune seams to be on, idles run good even up top with forward facing spike air cleaner, and looks good, so some tweaking and few parts should have it back reliable.

3 weeks till I get home....

While talking replacement speedos. Mine does not have the factory mount for the speedo, so been looking for something else that wont look bad to hold one and other then spending 400 bucks for cup, speedo from Dakota, or buying the all in one flat ones. not many options. Like the look of the Drags specialties basic speedo, with odometer. but cant find a way to mount it where it looks good. I have seen where people mount the small oil pressure gauge off the side if the rocker box, wish i could find a small speedo/odometer that would work there. that could be cool, still have my speed the rare times I need to know, and milage for gas. but have my clean bars up top.

Hey Mittens, I can get you into a setup like that.
2-7/8" polished stainless speedo for $100 and a custom made flat polished aluminum bracket that would mount to the rocker like the oil gauges and accept the speedo for another $100

would it have a cup to cover the back of the gauge? The bare gauge sticking out may look bad. But this might be the ticket.. odometer, and speedo, with black face/white leters ? do I get a choice of illumination color?

We can talk more for sure of links to the parts.

basically i want something simple like this, but black faced. and a way to mount it that is not just the barre gauge on the bars, or the rocker. If ti happens to have dummy lights built in thats nice, since the neutral, and oil lights are just single wire grounds. but not required.

I've got the 2003 chopper, and ride every day in the summer months. The bike has 32,000 miles on it now. I've changed tires a few times, and two batteries. I do have a wire plus kit, just waiting to be installed when its needed. Until then, I keep riding it as it is.
