2004 Chopper 6 Speed trans, DD6 or OD6?

2004 Chopper 6 Speed transmission, DD6 or OD6? Why do we have Jims cases, I thought they were all Baker?

The DD6 started with the new 05's. All prior are the OD6.

Don't know about the Jims case, my 03 was a Baker unit.

my 04 has Jims case .6 spd.

Baker OD6 in a Jim's case because I was told at the time Baker didn't make cases just the complete gearsets.

Like Alhall said -- I've got the OD6 gearset in a Jim's Case on my 04

trans 6 speed

my 01 hs a 5 speed, and the bike is geared low, i was thinking of a 6 speed so to have a real cruising gear, at 75 it seems to runs in the high rpm's, and feels like it could use another gear, i'm almost sure it is a5 speed baker in the bike know.. Doe's make since? can a 6th gear fit my cases? or should i trade trans, i really like the low gear speed, but want more at the top. Thnk you, Wallace

Mine has Baker stamped on the case. Does this mean it's a baker case, or???

Makes you wonder that if when they (BDM) were at the height of there production at as with the frames they brought in Jims to help supply cases. With frames in short supply they used both Rolling Thunder and Daytec.

Maybe raywood, are you guys that say you have baker stamped in the case referring to the trap door? Look under the starter on the left side of the case there will be the raised letters of the manufacturer.

When I was at the plant, it was made clear to me that 2004 was a "mixed year" for major components like rocker boxes, frames, and trannys. They tried their best to keep certain parts tied to specifc models, but they had to balance that with the high production demand.

At the end of the day, if it works for you riding, I don't see any problem with it.

I figure only "purists" are worried about everything matching -- and they never seem to really ride much anyway.....
