2004 Boxer electrical problem

I recently had to replace my battery for my '04 Boxer when the negative terminal partially melted. Now after installing a new battery and hooking everything back up, i get no ignition. The headlight doesn't come one when the key is in the start position and when I press the start button nothing happens. I'm a novice when it comes to much electrical and any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I will note that the bike has a wire-plus retro fit that came on the bike when I purchased it. The only light on the harness that comes on when in the start position is shown below.

I would double check and make darn sure you got all the wires hooked back up to the battery. Check that and let us know. Sorry for a late response.

If your negative wire melted you probably have a short or it was lose so it may have caused some damage. Do you have a starter relay? If so, change it out and see if that helps.

Sorry for the late response. I looked over everything one more time, and I'm confident everything is hooked up correctly. As far as a relay, i'm not 100% sure, but is this the correct item?

Your bike has a breaker of some sort.
It may be a red plastic housing with a stud sticking out of it.
It may be a 40 amp fuse or it may be an actual small breaker box with a reset button on the side. That is likely where the issue is now as far as power goes.
Any one of the above will be in the battery box area

You did replace the ground battery cable, yes?
When you did, you scrubbed that frame area so there was fresh bare metal for a good ground, yes?
The battery has how many volts right now?
I want to remove the neg cable and scrub that [frame] area clean. Why? I want to check for the color of a spark, not at the battery sparking gas? No.
I am going to turn the key on, take my new battery cable, stab the clean metal and what color do I have? A heavy Blue Spark says I have a short somewhere. Orange Spark says I just sparked a few lights on like the running or LED light and no problem found.

As stated, was it loose or now that we have the cable connected tight, where are we at?
1. Fuse.
2. Battery voltage.
3. Current flow, meaning, if it's not a solid ground, then there is a resistance and heat says resistance, i.e., find the shortest path or I will eat myself internally = Smokes/Melts/Bubbles in wire coating/Popped fuse/Drags the battery down with key off/Etc.

Oldschool.... wiring...
