2003 Speedometer

I am having a hard time finding a speedo for my 2003 Mastiff. The Dakota digitals won't work and I have gone through 3 actual Bigdog speedo's and they don't last. I have the tank mounted style. Anyone with suggestions on one that will work?

Have your replacements been new Big Dog Dakota Digital VDO's? I am on my third one also but after the first one lasted 15 years and the second was a used one I got off eBay. I fried it in a VR event so no failure of the speedo there. I now have a new OEM one I bought from Derrick and Donna.

Jr, have you checked the sender in the transmission, the wiring to it and the connection on the speedometer it self? Good luck!

All the connections to seem to be good. Current speedo will light up but jumps all over. How do i get in touch with Derrick and Donna ?

Jr. Take the speedometer sending unit out of the transmission and clean it. They are magnetic and build up with all kinds of metal shavings. Bigdogpartsking is their web site I am not sure of their phone number.

Mine did the same thing, as said before make sure your magnetic is clean, if the magnetic surface is not smooth replace it. If you have metal on it, check it again after riding to see if you get more. Mine had metal, and scratched up, after replacing everything as been fine since.

Is the 04 that much different than the 03.
I believe @SCOTTx88 has a Dakota in his 04 split tank.
