2003 Chopper speedometer and idiot lights

Hi, Can anybody tell me what could be wrong with my speedometer and idiot lights. First my speedometer stopped working, then my idiot lights stopped working. Before all this happen, I had loose connections on my battery. I have checked for broken wires, burnt wires, wrong connections, checked the wires under the fuel tank, check the speedo sensor, battery connections are tight, all plug ins have been check, no burnt plugins, the battery is putting out the correct voltage. Any help you can give me would really be appreciated. Thanks, Paul
