Welcome to the pound Mark....THE source of nfo on your Dog. Now to be clear, you bought a USED bike. No telling how she's been treated. Take a look at your carb. On top there should be two rubber caps. REPLACE THEM. If they have a bit of rot and leak.....bike runs like crap. Also check your tank for FOD and make sure your gas cap is venting properly. Finally, google the s&s carb video and check your carb settings. Keep us in the loop and we'll work to keep your Dog barking.

Yes the EHC records miles if spedo quits. Probably needs the pickup on top of transmission cleaned.

Well I had bad VR, then I had this Texan lady beating me cause I told her I'm married. And this lovely lady in nice new Jag trying to pick me up on gas station. If that is temperamental so be it. I can live with that.

I just replaced my speedo with a Dakota Digital for $217 and you could also send your starter to Dead One Customs, their located in Va.

I just test rode this bike, at Rommel Hd in Symrna De. Still has no speedometer or odometer, 10 minutes in the test ride , bike start to surge and buck, like I'm having a carb issue so I pulled off to side of the road and the bike shuts down, four try's on starting and finally *I'm riding again .And then it started to surge again pulled off the side of the road shut it down, and waited 5 minutes restarts bike runs fine, for a few minutes than here we go again. problem seemed to be in the ignition so I lugged the bike back to the dealership. The bike idle would change up and down about 400 rpm randomly kind of acted like a car with a bad coil.
I'm still thinking about buying the bike .but not sure about it. any Ideas

Try riding it again with the gas cap loose and see if the problem goes away. Sounds to me like the classic problem of a gas tank not being vented properly.... Shoo

Yep sounds like your gas cap is not venting just like Shooboy said.
