2002 Pit bull issues?????

I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 Pit Bull with 7100 miles for $8000.
2 issues that I seen right off the bat are:
1) the left rear tail light is out, right is on, hit the brakes and the left one comes on and the right dims.
2) the rear tire is completely bald on the right side only, and plenty of tread on the left.
I have read the issues on the electrical problems and the frame cracking. This tire is bad, so bad that I don't think it's just an alignment issue.

Any opinions on either of these issues and of anything else I should look for??

For the tail lights start with your connections, at the light itself and harness. Check the wires Under the rear fender as well. They could of been rubbed and shorted out. Change ur tire and align the entire bike, motor, Trans, wheel... check ur wheel bearings also. Keep us posted and we'll do our best to help. Oh, welcome from Kansas. Franco should be along anytime...

I don't know about the 2002 models but my 2004 had the wiring under the fender for the taillights and the wires shorted out from being hit by the tire. I relocated the lights to where the top passenger pegs go and that gave me just a short 6" wire lead that is under the seat not the fender.

As far as the tire goes it has to be an alignment problem all an easy fix.

I had the same issue on my 02 pit. I pulled the whole assembly out from behind the lense and the 2 prongs inside the socket were not lined up. Also if everything is not lined up inside your ground will be bad. If you break the lense don't worry I have one you can have. I see you live in Illinois where at. Im in McHenry. Good luck.
