2002 bulldog starting problems

I recently purchased a 2002 BD bulldog which I really love, my last bike was in 1972 an old harley. Anyway Ive had problems starting, Ive replaced batt with 300cca interstate/ new pickup sensor/ took solonoid apart buffed all copper no pits/ lite on braveheart working/ but now just clicks at this black relay. Starter would somtimes make a clunking or grinding noise when it was turning over, now nothing. Please Help I really enjoy this forum, You guys really rock

That is the starter relay you hear clicking. Go to any Harley shop and get a starter relay.
Take the old one with you so they can match it up. Good luck.

+1 Sounds like the starter relay. Also make sure the wire going to the solenoid on the starter is plugged in somtimes they have a habit of falling off. Also almost any Autoparts store should have your relay you don't necessarily have to go to HD. Best of luck

My buddy's 02 Pitbull goes through a starter about every 1.5 years...he did get a aftermarket one that comes with a lifetime warranty...so he just goes and gets it
replaced free everytime.
