2001 mastiff timing

have a 2001 mastiff. trying to time it. owner manual says to unplug EHC to sensor and plug a timing module in between. then use a normal timing light. what is this timing module? do i HAVE to use it or is there some way around it. please help. replacing starter now cause i ruined it with all the starting trying to figure out the timing issues.

The timing module reaches max advance at 2,500 rpm. Without it, you have to rev your engine up to 5,500 rpm before it reaches maximum advance. It must be at max advance to in order to set timing correctly.

I have the same issue, got a 2002 Mastiff that I want to check timing on
How do we get a Timing Module??
Has anyone got a schematic diagram of the Timing Module...I could just build one

I'd say dump anything EHC and stock ignition related, direct wire the bike and get a Dyna 2000i or Daytona Twin Tec ignition
