I've noticed with the owner's manual you sent that chapter 3(Maintenance and storage section) is missing.Pete could email me the 2004 manual? I'd really appreciate if you took the time to do that. Happy holidays

On the jack level the oil should be at the bottom of the neck where the cap screws in...if you fill.it on the kickstand to the bottom of the neck that's way to much oil once the bike is level..that bike should hold 2 1/2 to 3 quarts.I have nothing to read the oil level or temp. I have it up on a jack.
If you have a S&S super G. Check the little rubber plugs on top of the carb. They dry rot and crack from the heat. This will definitely make your bike run like crap when it gets warm. Also as mentioned when you drain the oil tank on your ridgeback it only drains the tank. You still will have approximately 22ozs of dirty oil in your crankcase sump. You put fresh oil in the tank and as soon as you start the bike it mixes the dirty oil in the sump with the new oil… if you use a scavenger as suggested it will get the dirty oil out through the oil filter connection and then you have 99.9% fresh oil in your bike. They are definitely worth the $50 bucks.Thats a relief. I may go a few miles on this oil change before doing another oil change, but interested for the next oil change. Now i just need to figure out why my bike all of a sudden idles low and then dies abruptly after riding for 30 mins or so. Thanks for your insight. Its nice to have group that knows the big dog world
