Wow! Super helpfull. I noticed those vacuum caps where missing. I actually ordered some last night coincidentally. I'm getting them in today. Thanks. Hope i can get this thing running right.
Oh, if those caps are gone, yeah you will notice a HUGE differance. May have to re-adjust the carb....or not? Keep a set on the bike if possible. They can and will pop off in the middle of an otherwise great ride. You can always find em @ a Auto Parts store.

Easy, and trouble free. Take a piece of small diameter hose, and loop it from 1 fitting to the other, if you're not using them for anything. Or, better yet, you can remove them, and seal the holes with JB Weld.;) They are only pressed in.

Got the caps on for now and wow major difference with response. I thought before that the diaphragm for my accelerator pump was torn or something. However, it's still dying when the bike gets on the hotter side. I'm wondering if these bikes ever have an issue with vapor lock in the gas line? Also, should I cap off the bottom prong of the carb? I believe that's a gas overflow, not sure.

Have you read up on failing cam/Crank sensor . Has one or the other depending on year. But when they are on there way out they generally like to fail when the engine is hot, then function again once it's cooled down . Some have got some canned air given it burst which cools it rather quickly as test measure. Not sure this is your situation but it's a known issue. There are members that will have first hand experience with them.

Do not block the overflow. It should have a small hose running down below the frame. Yes I keep a few caps in my tool kit. I like the idea of just a hose between them. Bike runs bad when they fall off.

I haven't read that, but it's probably worth the cost of some canned air to find out. Good to know
