1999 Big Dog Pitbull

Long story short. I know little to nothing about Big Dog motorcycle brand other than they look good and the one I am looking at has a S&S engine. (have lots of riding experience on sport bikes, buells and H-Ds) So to the question, I am looking at a '99 Pitbull with 14.5K miles for $8950. Haven't seen it in person yet, but I belive that there is some paint damage to a small area around the logo on one side of the tank, other than that it looks good. So anything to be aware of other than it is a hard tail? Yeah I'm trying to decide how I feel about that. Think I am good but I can here the wife now. Anyways I read on a recall for the rear fender, not sure if that has been done. I would think that a dealership could verify if it has been done. I know it is not an ideal place to look for any negative opinions on a site for big dogs but honest replys will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

Welcome and good luck with your purchase. Not to many older bikes here but you might look in the vintage section and see if there is anything posted on the 99's. Seems like a decent price though.
Check it out and if you need just post a question.

Enjoy the site,
Ray

I had a 00' Pitbull and loved it when it wasn't in the shop. I put 5,000 miles before selling it. It seemed to me you either got a good one or a bad one back then. Most of the trouble with mine was ignition related and due to the fact that the dealer at the time didn't have a wrench worth a shit. So alot of back and forth with the same issue. :bang: I love the Pitbull with that ridged frame. Just some getting use to the ride is all. They're no sport bike or harley for sure. I've owned both ZX-6, Road King, etc... Just have a good shop to work on it if you need it. For me that was key in getting my last 2. Both Pitbulls btw. This site is the best if you need help. All the guys here are always checking in. Good luck
