In the sad saga of owning a modified Big Dog motorcycle, a joyous moment has arisen. It has taken years, literally, for the stars to align and allow the bike to run like it was designed to do. After countless issues and almost hanging my head in defeat, I can honestly say that I am happy with my bike. I look forward to riding it and it brings a smile to my face.

I took the bike to the track and ran an 11.8 second 1/4th mile at 111.64 mph. I understand this isn’t mind boggling by any means, but for a 700lb bike that is not too shabby either. With the new clutch set up I have to dial in the launch, the back tire breaks loose quite easily. I think I can get it in the low 11s with some practice.

The attached dyno sheet is prior to the new clutch and some slippage is evident, especially around 4,500 rpm. Max hp: 118, Max torque: 124.5

This is on the motor, I have an extra 30hp at the push of a button…

Those dyno numbers, is that on the juice?
No, that is just on the motor. The mechanic who did all of my head work said he did not feel comfortable running the bike on the dyno with the nitrous because he did not install the NOS system and didn't want to be held liable, which I understand in all fairness. The NOS system has been on the dyno before I did the big motor build and made exactly 30hp. So with the NOS there is no reason the dyno shouldn't show 148 hp and 154 lbs of torque.

Just curious, has anyone heard of a dog doing better in the 1/4th? I'd like to know what they are truly capable of.

For those that have been to the strip, what's the best way to launch? Weather permitting, I'm going to a test n tune Sat night and want to make sure I get it right. What works on the street is a different story on a sticky track and want to avoid a bog or stall off the line. Will be running 05 Chop with Woods 650. Without a doubt it will be a wild ride.

It's been about 25 years since I've raced a bike and had forgotten the thrill when the light turns green. Went to Lonestar in Sealy, Tx and knew it was a bad night to race because of the wind but figured what the hell. Temp 80 deg, Humidity 86%, and 15-20 MPH HEAD WIND !!

Ran a slow 12.71 @ 102.51  Needless to say I was disappointed and this confirms that Toad's bike is Badass :2thumbs:. I eased out of the hole on take-off, bike hooked up great and pulled strong in the 1/8th but felt like I hit a wall after that :bang:. The Chopper didn't feel stable with the high winds so I didn't make any more passes. Will try another day.

My only mods are: VHBR (baffles in), re-jetted Super E carb, K&N foam filter, and Woods 650 cam w/springs. Thinking about ignition upgrade and G carb.
