107, Super G, pucking fuel when pitcock opened and hot?

So last year, I still had the vent tube in the tank. it was not hooked to anything as the tank had a plug in it. But then it was rattling around so I removed it. No issues.

SO when its HOT out side (Alabama summer) and I am riding it, all is good. BUT when i stop, I shut the fuel petcock off (habit from dirt bikes, and cant hurt right?). Well if its super hot out, and I stop for say lunch or a best buy run.. and come back out (happened 2 time so far once lunch and once at best buy). When I open the fuel Petcock, before I start the bike and take off, its like there is pressure in the fuel tank, forcing fuel out of the carb. it leaks out the front of the carb air cleaner...... I shut off fuel...

I then start bike, and then its all ok again.. I assume pressure is building in the tank? from sitting in the sun and its just forcing fuel to dump when I open the valve under pressure? but why is there pressure building in the tank? the gas cap should vent pressure correct?

IN a related note, a few other random times... I have started the bike when hot and hot out, and if you take off instantly, it has hesitated at random like its starving for fuel.. then it catches up and its good.... related?

It does sound like pressure is building in the tank. I would purchase vented gas caps. I think the stock caps are not vented.

On one of those hot ass days try and remove your gas cap and see if it floods the carb. If that works then you know it is a pressure problem and vented caps would resolve.

So I let it sit the rest of the day in the sun at work yesterday. went out and opened gas cap. you can hear it hissing. then whooosh.

then opened pitcock, and no fuel dumping... SO guess I need me a gas cap....

I like the oring style, as my bike has oring grips, and pegs. but I dont like the 6 bolts/rivits around the circle?

will hit him up i guess. will any stock normal gas caps fit the tank threads?

Problem solved, easy fix!

I had a similar problem on my 2005 Chopper. Inside the gas cap was a gray colored plastic piece threaded into the center of the under side of the cap. I just removed it and the original cap vented fine after that. I'm not sure if this will help you at all or not. Just a thought.

Well I will play with the stock one after the new one gets here, Order the Pop up vented chrome one like this. 20 bucks delivered off Amazon. ha

Isn't there a guy on here that has the special tools to remove the paint savers? And the skills to use them too.

What's a paint saver.. And I am down to get a custom one. But Amazon was fast and cheap test.

I like the o rings my pegs and grips are like that. But don't like the rivets

Paint saver is the chrome piece the gas cap screws into. It is also threaded and screws out. Behind it is a rubber gasket and gas makes it swell so it's usuall a bitch to get out.
