107 compression question.

Hi all. First post. Great forum. S

I just bought a 03 Husky with a 107 in it. It has the s&s 600 cam. From what I figure I need to run 10.5:1 to get my corrected compression right for this cam...if I'm off let me know. Anyhow has anyone bumped the compression up on there 107? What is the best way to do it...since I can't find anything but stock replacment pistons from s&s I am wondering what the best way to do it on these motors is (milled heads?). I've done some cool 1340 builds but this is a bit different so all help, advice and input is appreciated.

Yes, milling the heads is the way to bring up the compression on this motor. You could use a thinner gasket .030, but that won't get it up to 10.5-1.
Contact John Sach, a member on this form. He can tell you the best compression
for the 600 cam and he can also do the work to wake the motor up. John does excellent
head work.

If your engine geometry is correct, a 83 cc combustion chamber, and a .030" head gasket should put you where you need to be. :up: with a S&S .600" cam, and 107 cu in.

I don't think you need to be at 10.5:1 with the S&S 600 cam. When my dog had the 600 cam it was all stock. The dealer did the install because I wanted to remain on warranty. They never did mention anything about having to bump the compression to use that came.

However, after the warranty went out the window, I had the heads ported and polished by Larry WFO. He installed the 2.02 intake valves and 1.605 exhaust valves with the Woods 650 cam springs. I also asked him to mill the head 0.030 and I used comatic 0.030 head gaskets with 0.010 base gaskets which put me at about 10.5:1 and not much over if any. I still have the stock cam and new set of heads should I decide to mellow out a little :D.

In answer to you question, John told you what I am telling you mill the heads and use 0.030 head gaskets. You don't even have to take the jugs off.
