I installed S&S travel limiters in my lifters. the 600 is notorious for hard starting because the lifters bleed down after sitting awhile or sitting overnight. all 4 valves are closed so you are pushing compression in both cylinders.( called static compression). that's why they are hard to start or have starter stall and starter clutch failure on the initial start, after it rolls over once the lifters pump back up and they start easier.. the travel limiters limit the lifters from bleeding down completely till all valves are shut and allows for easier initial starts. only the valves that are suppose to be closed are closed.
after finding numerous broken S&S rocker arms in bikes over the yrs I run jims machining rockers arms and jims big axel lifters in my 107 S&S SA engine.. at one time if the numbers on the S&S rocker arms fell within the bad batch series S&S would exchange them at no charge.
