LOL, I did 800+ in 14hrs last year on the HD. I was 3hrs from home in jax, had to lay down for almost an hour and almost couldn't get back on the bike for the last three hours...

If your going to be consuming Red Bull's and the like, ensure you enlarge your bladder.
I have one of them and i am stopping for a piss every 100 yards.
Water water and get some water is all your body will need, dialetic's such a coffee and red bulls will dry you out too much, in your camel back add some ice cubes and some rasberry cordial, the sugar will give you a boost and the water will be absorbed.
A good lanolin based cream for your butt crack, in fact your entire buttock area and where your boots rub against your skin. Easy to reach nut bars and chewing gum.
Good luck, we demand to see pictures.

X2, I started getting away from sodas "Mt Dew" and such while I was still driving the truck. Started going for Cranberry Juice OJ and such. Seem to do the trick for me....:2thumbs:

Never of the monkey stuff lol. But if you guys swear by it, then it might be worth looking into.

Anti-Monkey Butt powder is what ur looking for. Check your local farm supply store, Atwoods, Orchlens, ect... Yellow bottle with a smiling red assed monkey!

Don't know if you have windshield, but I'm riding my 03 home from Kansas right now. With no luggage rack I have all my shit in rollbag on handlebars. Noticed that breaks the wind nicely... Difference is bigger than I expected.

That does make a huge difference. Once it started getting cold in the evening I started riding with my coat rolled up on the bars, can't believe how much better it is. Still not good enough to buy a windshield, but I will ride with my coat rolled up more often.

I did the Saddlesore 1000 (24 hrs) and Bun-Burner 1500 (36hrs) in conjunction to each other 2 years ago from Texas to California. We left out at 6:00 am stopped for breakfast 4 hrs later, then snacked the rest off the first 1000 miles. Jeff is right, skip the energy drinks. I had 2 bottles of water and a big Payday at every gas stop, can't stress enough on water. We broke the 1K mark in Kingman AZ and went on to Needles, CA just to be safe on mileage, keep fuel receipts with time stamp on them( important) and get a few witnesses to sign the sheet you can download from IBA website. We also printed a mapquest map of our route. We didn't take any pics of landmarks for verification, figured that would eat up riding time. The more you can get on the handlebars to block the wind the better. We made the first 1000 miles in 16.5 hrs, we probably spent about 20 mins per fuel stop with a few 30 min ones along the way. I did it on my Street Glide due to not being young anymore (51). Good luck on your adventure and look forward to welcoming you to the IBA family.

Remember you need fuel reciepts and odometer readings
Yup, I read they are vital. Got a ziplock baggie for those.

Im in total aggreance. I was gunna have a cpl can of redbull on the pack just incase. Otherwise Im using my trusty camel back with some squincher or the like in it (flash rasberry cordial). Its not as if I can use an empty gatorade bottle while Im riding aye lol. Ill try sort some way of taking pics and the like. Im going to take my GoPro and play around with it. See what I can come up with. Knowing my luck Ill just have pics of gas stations haha.

I was looking into a windsheild. I ride a Mastiff and hear that they only block the chest and direct it all to the head. But Im thinking any protection is better than nothing. Ill be riding with a full face helmet so that should help too.

Thats what I need to get sorted now, all thats left is the route confirming. Print copies and try get them entered into either my iphone gps or borrow a car gps. Im thinking like you, good meal early on, then light snacks as the day progresses, less blood moved away from the brain for digestion later in the trip as I get tired (in theory). Shit, I might even carry on and do the 1500... LOL settle down, Id better get through the first 1000 before even contemplating that.

Excellent advice and tips so gents. Thanks heaps and ill update more as I g get prepped.

On the fuel reserve, one item I have carried for a long trip with questionable fuel area is a MSR fuel can. They come in various size and are designed for back packing in the back country to carry stove fuel. Light weight and easy to stuff out of the way. Never had to use one, but figure the 20 oz will be enough to get me off the road and to nearest gas or place to stay until I can, for sure the 30 would for most situation. MSR Fuel Bottles at REI
Just picked up 2 x 20oz containers yesterday. Perfect for the task.
Cheers:cheers:
