Knows some things
I don't know what it is but I just can't get excited about going to Kansas!
I can relate. I've told my wife,(who is from N.W. Kansas), that the only reason people settled in Kansas, is when they were come across it in covered wagons, the women said," This is it, I'm not going another step further."

I'm not excited about Kansas either, however, that is NOT the reason I'm going there. I'm going there to meet up with members and have a good time with them and don't give a rats ass where it is. Cold beer and good laughs can be had anywhere, even in Whichita.

If you're riding that new Gulfstream, how about swinging by Suffolk and pick me up. We got us a new air strip and if you tuck your feet in and watch the power lines you should be ok:)
It's funny you mention Gulfstream, that's EXACTLY what I do since working at BDM, I move the wings for the G280, G550 and G650's

Looking forward to retirement
Morning Nukr. I'm suggesting suffolk, Va :D50 miles from the beach and roughly 3hrs to the blueridge parkway and a hell of a lot closer than Texas for me. :)
I agree!

Top priority should be a great place to ride. Mountains and canyons with 100 to 200 mile scenic routes for a good group putt. There are no mountains or scenic canyons in Kansas. I was living in Wichita 50 years ago when they drafted my ass. There just isn't anything in the center of the great plains to get me back there.

Today, I rode my Big Dog into the Santa Monica Mtns. along Mulholland Hwy. Stopped at a winery for a sample. Drove the canyons. Maybe I'm spoiled, but these places do exist in other states, don't they? What would compel me to travel 1400 miles to Wichita for a look at wheat fields on a straight, flat road?

I agree about finding a centrally located gathering, but we need to expand our thinking into places like the Ozarks, Colorado, or even Texas. One of the draws for Sturgis is the riding through the Black Hills.
That's why I suggested the Ozarks like Fayetteville Ark. Roads are great, scene's are beautiful.

What year did production move to Wichita ?
Big Dog was started in a garage in Wichita and never left town. It started one mechanic building a couple custom bikes for the owner and grew from there. So production never "moved" to Wichita, it was born there.

Somebody needs to pull the trigger and see what's a hit and what's a miss. Sounds like shodog has some experience in the logistics and planning fields.
Maybe a little, I was paid to work motorcycle events of every imaginable type for several years by Big Dog.

We did happen to put on a few of our own very successful rallies, that is till the neighbors demanded money to close the street for one day. They thought they could double dip, the added foot traffic in their business that was more in one day than they got in 6 months then turn around and demand payment from BDM for their signature to close the street. Sheldon told them to pound sand, paid all the cancellation fees to every supporting business, hotel etc and flipped the neighborhood businesses a big middle finger.

Scott, thanks for the reply. I was of how it started. I just wondered if my 2000 May have been built in the building shown in the pics here.
