OK, Talked to Scott with Baker and he said the 2004 BD Chopper requires a 1'' offset and he does not recommend the Baker drive. He suggested looking at the Primo Brute IVextreme. J&P Cycles agreed with what Scott said. Has anyone had this problem. Baker said not to use a 1'' offset spacer, use a drive that is set up to be offset. Need input on this guys!!!!!!!

It blows my mind!!!!!! I talked to Baker about there drive and they said, it was a 1'' offset. I talked to Amy at Strokers and she talked to her technition who didn't understand why a 1'' offset spacer could not be used. Scott, at Baker said, and I quote_ "DO NOT USE A SPACER ON OUR DRIVES"! Now your telling me it's a 1.5'' offset. And on top of everything the bike is titled as a 2004 but I just put compression releases in the bike myself only to learn on this forum that all 2004 BDM's came with compression releases from the factory. My mechanic who was a BDM dealer is scratching his head saying the heads have the top tapped for them but these are stock plugs from SS this bike has NEVER had compression releases. I purchased the bike used in Sept 2004 with 800 miles on it. I looked at the title again last night and under make it has (make-Big Dog) (model - Chopper) (year 2004). My mechanic truly thinks that this BDM was actually a late run 2003 and was not updated as a 2004 but was sold and titled as a 2004. So who is correct on what I need to purchase, Baker, Karata, Primo, WHO???? And what fucking yr bike do I actually have?????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :loony:

Anyone reading my above post knows the "Knowledge Base" is correct if your bike is a 2003-04.Your bike came with a 250 tire when new.
Easy way to check is if your inner primary is the original from BigDog when it left the factory is to just measure the spacer between the engine a inner primary for your answer using my above info.

Daytec framed choppers had an odd offset, 1 7/16" I think, can't remember off the top of my head. Anyway, I had Randy at SMW machine 1/16" off my spacer when I bought the primary from him. Check your frame manufacturer, then call them and get the proper offset. RT frames might be different. I would not mess with the Primo, the 2 piece motor plate is pointless and a pain in the ass. You can put any belt drive you want on there, check out Southern Motorcycle Works.
