1(06 K9 New Noise) 2(06 K9 not charging)

So after getting my big dog I have made a few new friends. Who knew that there were so many K9's in my area. 4 including mine in a 3 block radius..

1) 2006 K9 117 with a noise on tip in that sounds like a chirping (sick) bird. It can be duplicated as long as you are moving and role on and off the throttle.

While riding ( know that its not safe ) bent over the side it sounds like it is coming from the stater area. This bike is charging normally.

2) 2006 K9 117 that is not charging. We already had the starter rebuilt by WSW and had the ECU tested. We then installed a new voltage regulator from WSW. (BTW Curtis rocks great guy) Still not charging. I ohms tested the stater at the plug and it is exactly the same resistance as my 2007 K9...

Any help would be appreciated.

So we have 2 bikes here?
On bike #2 I'd say there are 3 parts in charging system: battery, Voltage Regulator and stator. If battery and VR are good, all connections OK, my wild quess for faulty part would be a Stator!
Does it generate any current while bike is running? Current should range 20-60 volts depending on rpm.
If yes, VR is new and all the wires are connected, there is only one more thing: that bloody fuse or breaker between battery and VR! Under left side cover! If it's a breaker changes are there is a black small reset button.... Or, burned fuse is burned fuse. 30amp.

I did check both sides of the circuit breaker and there is voltage going through. :2thumbs:

For bike number 2 start it up and put your multi-meter on the battery post and see what kind of DC volts are going to the battery. Should be around 13 volts or so. If you have low volts then as said earlier it would most likely be the rotor because you already changed out the VR. If the volts are good, then it sounds like the battery isn't keeping the charge.

I've had same exact issue with the chirping, and it turned out to be the belt. it's being replaced as we speak.

Found the upper motor mount bolts loose. tightened with some lock tight and no more noise. all good. thanks guys!!!

I will get working on bike 2 soon.....
