09 coyote

Energy One

RETIRED
They look so much like a Mastiff.
Only shorter in length. Now I have to look up the specs for it.

Just checked and the overall length is the same. Smaller rear tire and couldn't find the rake for the coyote.

edit: only other difference I could find was the coyote has a 2" backbone stretch, but that doesnt make sense as they have the same wheelbase. ive also seen the Mastiff is .5" longer overall but how is that possible if they have the same wheelbase? maybe a typo? ive also seen that the coyote has an extra .5" of ground clearance but they use basically the same frame.

I think the Mastiff is more popular. Maybe they made more Mastiffs?

does anyone know what cam and springs came in the 09 117? I know it has the S&S heads but all of the cam threads that i come across seem to be focused on 03-08 big dogs. ive seen 546, 569, and several other odd ball sizes.

i guess the real question is were the 09's any better setup for a 600 cam or should I stick with a 585.

also, didnt they switch back to the super g carb around 07?

Dont know, but my guess would be same all all the other 117's in 08-09. Cant imagine them doing anything special for one model.

I had to change spring in mine to go to the 600.

As far as I know, BDM used the 546 from '07 until the company closed.

I like the 585. It is a pure bolt-in cam for any year of the 117's. I believe the '09s have the 585 springs, so you would need to change springs for the 600 as Jwooky mentioned. Also, most engine builders, like John Sachs, recommend a compression bump for the 600 because of the late closing intake valve.
