Guys,
So i need a little help and maybe some opinions. So I ordered a brand new set of ridgeback bars with cables wire harness etc. Put them on only to realize that they won't work. Can barely turn the bars without them hitting the tank. Now the only reason I thought they would work without anymore customizing was because my buddy has a k9 with a set of ridgeback bars on them. I used a couple of wire hangers and made a makeshift mold of his bars and put them on my bike to get an idea. They looked like they would fit perfect and bring the bars back just where i wanted them. I am a newbie with the big dog have been riding over 18 years, without any experience with customs. Well now that my bars won't work i realize his ridgeback bars were o7 and i have 08's, which is now abundantly clear are not the same. Can you guys give me some options to make these work. I can't get my money back now and I am in for over 700 at this time with bars that won't work. HELP!. LOL>> :bang: :bang: :bang:

I have been contemplating simply getting some steel spacers about an inch long to bring them up and back. Depending on when your 06 was built it may not have the pullback bars from the factory. I think it was mid year they started putting them on standard. 08 Ridgeback bars are humongous. No way those are going to work. Maybe try and sell them to someone building a custom.

vegas,
mine didn't have the pullback from the factory. thing that sucks even more is i've been out of town the whole month of jan and my friend has been wrenching for me. I can't even really sit on it and try to see what i want to do at this time. Frustrated beyond belief. I am hoping nelson can come through and we can work this out.

Mine doesn't have the pullbacks either. It's fine until you get into a long ride. I actually would like mine to be a little higher as well. If you set on a new bulldog it's bars are a little higher and farther back. I haven't looked into it a whole lot yet but the problem with alot of the spacers seems to be big dog decided to put the cross brace flush with the mounting surface. Let me know what you figure out. If I get around to messing with mine I'll do the same.

Would it help if you installed say 1/2 inch or 1inch spacer and a little longer bolt in the handle bar? Some pictures would help? 05chop

i agree about the pics. I will be back in town Fri and will do that, but from what my buddy tells me I will need 1.5 at least to clear the cables on the bottom of the controls. In his opinion they are waaay to low anyway. since I can't sit on it i'm in limbo as to what to do. Was just bothering me so much I thought I would put up a post early and see what others thought.

Been looking for you since we talked on Thursday. I found some "curved risers" but not sure yet on how they would work. An option would be to mill a set of custom risers from a couple of blocks of high grade aluminum with offset mounting. Essentially you would use two sets of bolts instead of one. First set attaches the bars to the risers, second set attaches the risers to the Tree.
